  yeah, the roman catholic church leadership in virginia smells just like the spirit-anointed "boss" at the watchtower bible & tract society.... a priest who exposed sexual misconduct by fellow priests in northern virginia faces unspecified charges within the roman catholic church that supporters fear could lead to his defrocking.. in a court deposition, the reverend james haley exposed the affair that another priest had with a married woman.

  he accused two other priests of hoarding gay pornography and one of them of stealing from collection plates.. the three accused priests resigned, but haley's supporters say he's been on involuntary leave for a year and faces further disciplinary action by arlington bishop paul loverde.. in his deposition, haley said he was overwhelmed by the amount of homosexual activity in the priesthood, but was stonewalled by loverde when he provided evidence of impropriety.. news stories follow.... link: http://fredericksburg.com/news/fls/2002/122002/12022002/1038872022 .

  I'm not an elder but I was forced stepped down - and I'm glad. I feel a lot freer. I'm a JW too but basically inactive and I'm just under the radar screen. I do have friends who are elders. One that I grew up with and consider a good friend but is constantly sad, depressed even. He wasn't that way until about a year into his eldership. He puts up a good face but I know him better than that. I worry about him.

  I've learned a lot of things here and from other sources. And, of course, the things you pick up from being in the 'truth' for a while. I'm sure not every disfellowshippment were because of fornication. I'm sure some were apostate charges. And I'm sure some who were driven out because of apostacy didn't go quietly but after giving the elders an earful regarding the organization.

  I think my elder friend is having a crisis of conscience. He is not a stupid man. But I hope he survives. I'll be there for him.

  I'm glad you are holding up. I'm also very glad that your relationship with Jehovah is stronger as a result. Good for you! For me the disillusionment was a heavy burden but I've learned that for some things the Org was a protection for me. Kept me out of troubles - glad I wasn't an elder's kid, a lot of them get away with murder. [smile] Now that I see the dangers in the Org and from my own 'faithful' friends, I keep my wits. I'm not bitter but so much of my life was a waste. I hope someday that the Org would reform. But I starting to see that that will happen only if the GB were to die or discredit themselves in a big way.

  I've heard the same rumors. I think they have a basis in fact because I've heard of some wild and inappropiriate activities that have gone on in Bethel.

  I think Franz's COC book has disenchanted many. Those that have generally leave or get kicked-out with disfellowshipping. Once they are out of the Org their threat is minimal. It is the very few of us who know that goes on and still continue flying under the radar that worries the Org. We are the cause of the GB's paranoia. They'd love to find us. [smile] But I've noticed through the years how assembly talks and even dramas have such a heavy current of obedience and loyalty to the Org. Even my long time JW friends notice and both tire and worry about it. To borrow a phrase from Princess Leia from Star Wars, 'The more they squeeze, the more we slip through out of their fingers.'

  i was raised in the jw cult from birth, a third generation member to boot.

  my family was full of elders, ministerial servants and overseers of all sorts.

  Aztec, you shown remarkable restraint. I would have cut loose with exactly what I thought of their "investigation". You had the baby. That's the end of it. What else do they want? I think they secretly enjoy hearing, not the truth, but the intimate details. They view extracting information as God's work but it is verbal pornography. They fool themselves and they love it. They must really line-up for these kinds of cases. What's worse, they are not qualified. They are quacks, at best.

  I wonder. No JW should object to reading and sharing this article. In fact, let's share it to all JWs. Let's be technical - it isn't apostate, right? LOL

  Yes. Let the JWs read it, see the wrongness, and then let their conscience go to work! We can only hope they still have one.

  i'm doing a little research on islam and the quran (koran) and i ran across the following website that explained why muslims think the koran is the only book inspired by allah.

  i never heard of this before, and frankly, i don't know what to think of this.

  does anyone have any insight on the significance of the mathmatics involved here?

  I haven't been that interested in Muslims. I've known a few Muslims personally and they've been nice. I'm nice to all people. My attitude with Muslims is live and let live kind of thing even though I've been annoyed at the religious violence Islam inspires. But after 9/11, the suicide bombings of innocent civilians, and the continued terrorist assualts on innocents instead of on people who can fight back, I'm convinced this is a violent religion of fanatical idiotic cowards which lends itself to be exploited by self-serving apostles of hate or oil rich fatcats who starve their stupid uneducated people while they shift all the blame onto Israel and the West.

  If the Great Tribulation begins with the destruction of Islam, good riddance! I'll be dancing in the street. Consider it payback for 9/11!!!

  Hmm, you're right! It was eased in so slowly that I haven't noticed. I remember how we used to really proclaim Jehovah's Kingdom and really get the literature and the message in their faces.

  I have a question for many years which even my JW friends wonder about. They notice the strangeness but, like me, just shrugged it off. Well, now I'm asking. :)

  Why are so called 'lands' treated independently. For example, Alaska and Hawaii are treated as their own 'land' but not as USA. And the numbers for USA do not include the numbers for Alaska and Hawaii.

  (Oddly enough, even the addresses of their branch offices are oddly written in the publications - with the zip code first then the address. So strange!)

  The WTS quotes more lands and islands where the preaching work is done there are nations which you can look-up in any encyclopedia.

  Very strange. Anyone have any idea why???
