I wonder if JR Brown is powerful enough to be a policy maker or he is just a well trained puppet on some short strings? Anyone knows who he really is in the org beyond his official title? I'm just curious. He talks like a polititian/lawyer in his videos.

Have We Really Been Lied To?
by sandy inwe were told that the brothers in mexico had been oppressed by the government, so that they could not sing or pray at meetings.
we were not told that the society had registered as a "cultural" organization because religious organizations were not allowed to own property in mexico.
as a "cultural" organization, the brothers were obliged to downplay the religious aspect.

Pioneering---Did It Make A Difference In Your Life
by minimus inmany of us pioneered.
some here pioneered as "vacation", "temporary", "auxillary", "regular" or even "special" roles.
nearly everyone was expected to pioneer, if you were to stay in the good graces of the congregation.

LDH >>it allowed me the privilege of driving a junky 1979 Chevy Nova for three long years! (you didn't really think pioneers could afford new cars, did you?!?!?) <<
Funny you should mention that. It seems that the WTS demands much of pioneers yet by all accounts pioneers are forced to buy cheap run-down cars that are maintenance nightmares. And, of course, they have to add more wear and tear on those vehicles hastening the severity and frequency of maintenance. Pioneers are especially forced to put on a brave face, not murmur over their lot in life, be examples to the flock, and do their quota. All the good it did for those I knew. It makes me sad to remember those that have sacrificed higher education, well paying jobs with health benefits, retirement, and even marriage and children only to be washed-out and on their own. Not the WTS nor the elders will give them a bag of groceries for their years of faithful service, and giving the WTS and the congregation money they where guilted into not using on themselves for an ordinary simple pleasure.

Shuttle Explosion
by RR inmy sympathies go out to the families of those lost in the shuttle explosion.. .
but you think with all the billions the society has they would have a message of comfort for these people.. .
a full page ad in the paper, a short spot on the telly.

RR >> My sympathies go out to the families of those lost in the shuttle explosion.<<
Hear hear! My sympathies also to those brave explorers that seek to expand Man's knowledge.
>>But you think with all the billions the Society has they would have a message of comfort for these people.
A full page ad in the paper, a short spot on the telly. They pride themselves on be God's people, why don't they show it? <<About three months from now I'm sure there will be a "timely" Awake cover article about it where they will use the shuttle explosion as a dogma vehicle for any single number of their common teaching points.

>>I expect that they are doing as best os they can.<<
I suspect they will do nothing. Why should they?
By transfering parts of the factory operations to their Wallkill facility and outsourcing production to other facilities, owned or not, they won't need those Brooklyn buildings anymore. Those buildings are in PRIME waterfront real estate areas. After layoffs where those severed will not get health insurance, severance pay, or other considerations they should save big time on labor expenses. They could rent or lease the properties and make a small fortune every year. Or sell the properties for a large fortune and let the problem be someone else's headache. I think they will do the latter. By making a large fortune in selling the properties, they can offset dwindling revenue for a number of years which by then they would have planned their next steps to keep the WTS existing.

Letter of thanks to the GOVERNING BODY
by Fruitcake indear beloved governing body members at bethel .
i wanted to thank you for the fine job you all have been doing,,,,,,,you know, like dropping crumbs off the table to feed us your spiritual table scraps, and beating us, bearing us down with heavy loads, so many rules and regulations that nobody can follow...... .
you all look nice in your suits and ties, reminds me of how fine the pharisses dressed with their long fringed garments.
-
Roddy
Fruitcake, you addressed your letter to the wrong place. Look in a WTS publication for the USA address, print the letter out, put it in the envelope, and apply the necessary postage.

Odd Pioneer Stats
by metatron inpioneer statistics from recent months:.
sept. 2002 88,341. october 2002 91,101. november 2002 89,083. this looks odd.
you would expect a large increase in sept. as.
-
Roddy
>>This looks odd. You would expect a large increase in Sept. as
kids getting out of school are pushed into pioneering - but it
starts low, increases, and then drops by over two thousand
in one month!<<Kids are staying in school! I guess persuing an exciting career in office or house cleaning is not appealing to the younger generation. I think the younger generation are not as lame minded as the WTS hoped they would get.

Jehovah Witnesses watching TV tonight
by JH inthe active jw's watching tv tonight will be surprised when they see themselves in the spotlight.
how do you think the average jw will react when watching the program?
will they think that it's all lies, or do you think they will believe a good part of it?

I hope someone recorded it and made it available online somehow!

Did Anyone Ever Like The Dramas?
by minimus inat the district convention, the highlight was always said to be the dramas.
did you really look forward to them?
was there one that ever stood out?
-
Roddy
Dramas in the last 10 to 15 years or so are heavily moralistic with an organizational slant. Prior to that the dramas more closer to scripture and, to a degree, less imbedded with WTS agenda. The WTS agenda is almost shamelessly blown all over the dramas these days.

Alaska and Hawaii
by Roddy indoes anyone know why alaska and hawaii are considered their own "countries" in wts statistics?
how come they can't be grouped with the usa statistics?.
and another thing.

>>Alask and Hawaii are just too far from the Mainland.<<
Thank you, Joker. But it doesn't make sense.

Has anyone else asked this question about blood?
by eyeslice inabout a year ago, even though we had not been issued with no blood cards, there was some talk about filling in and signing the health care advanced directive.. for those who havent seen this document, it is quite detailed and specific about what blood fractions an individual will accept.
so basically, it states the individual will under no circumstances accept whole blood or its major components, but may accept what could be quite a long list of minor blood fractions.. so here is the tricky question(s) i asked one of our local elders.
q. you understand that these so called minor components are extracted from donated human blood and often it takes many pints of this human blood to produce just a small amount of these fractions?.
-
Roddy
>>The Society is keeping their answer from the JW community, except for those who make specific inquiry: Yes, it is allowed for a JW to donate blood if they are convinced that the blood will only be used to make allowed fractions.<<
That is so absurd! More double-standards and hidden information. What was that Scripture that shows that Jehovah hates two sets of weights? You think for something like this Jehovah will allow two sets of standards?
