Tubal pregnancy.....here's a mind-boggler......

i always wondered (even when i was still in the organization), but never had the guts to ask.. if a woman becomes pregnant, but the egg has implanted in the falopian tube....will the jw's condone an abortion to save the life of the mother?

or does it boil down to their usual pansy-ass, "matter of conscience" excuse.

A Christian woman with a tubal pregnancy can decide whether to accept this operation. Normally she undoubtedly would be willing to face any risks of pregnancy so that her child could live. But with a tubal pregnancy she faces a grave risk while there is no possibility that the embryo can continue to live and a child be born.

I'm sorry but even this would have to be a no-brainer. Yet I wonder how many women, from years of WTS conditioning, had to ask their elders for the ok for this operation? I suppose that even if they asked their own husbands, it's what the elders decides is what counts. After all, the elders are just a few steps down the command chain from Jehovah!

Interesting to see that they still resort to holy intimidation and re-interpreting Scriptures.

11 Decades ago Jehovah's Witnesses made their stand clear. For example, they supplied an article to The Journal of the American Medical Association (November 27, 1981; reprinted in How Can Blood Save Your Life? pages 27-9).* [Footnote: Published by Jehovah's Witnesses.] That article quoted from Genesis, Leviticus, and Acts. It said: "While these verses are not stated in medical terms, Witnesses view them as ruling out transfusion of whole blood, packed RBCs [red blood cells], and plasma as well as WBC [white blood cell] and platelet administration." The 2001 textbook Emergency Care, under "Composition of the Blood," stated: "The blood is made up of several components: plasma, red and white blood cells, and platelets." Thus, in line with medical facts, Witnesses refuse transfusions of whole blood or of any of its four primary components.

It cracks me up to see they claim "Jehovah's Witnesses made the stand clear" when it has ALWAYS been the WTS ramming this stuff up the asses of faithful JWs. Funny, even when I was a faithful JW I wondered why they would talk about JWs in the third person as if they made the decisions when EVERYBODY knew that the rank and file were simply herd animals that followed behind everything the WTS says. Especially so at the district conventions and those stupid self-righteous "resolutions".

has anyone else ever watched televangelist joel osteen, pastor of the lakewood church in houston, tx?

i believe he is aired pretty much throughout the u.s. even being the faithless slug that i am, his sermons never, ever fail to move me.

he is so inspiring, so positive.

I agree. I like him. He is really upbeat. I find him refreshing from the constant recycled egg-sucking themes in the public talk schedule in kingdom halls. One time I could swear that I heard the same talk subject about 10 times in the same year. And each time it was still boring.

I never figured out why elders couldn't make their own talks. I'm sure if one was allowed to give a talk that one can really specialize in or that comes from the heart, that can really benefit the listeners. I guess it's another one of those WTS control things.

Coming to New York City? I'll see if he has a website and if he is touring around to other places.

hi, my first post, although i've been lurking for some time now.

i am an active jw that continues my association with full knowledge of the organisation's tactics.

my main reason for abiding is my family and friends, although there is little i agree with in the way of doctrine.

Hi Ezekiel! Welcome.

I've opened my eyes. I've been on WTS eye and ear candy and in their Land of Make Believe for over 25 years, and I'm not taking any more of it. I'm a JW dropout. So I'm technically still a JW but I try to tuck under the radar as much as possible. I have lots of family in the JWs and I don't want to loose them because The Borg has lost its assimilation of me.

The previous song book was released in 1984, if my memory is correct. Previous to that was a song book in 1967, 17 years earlier. So it has been 20 years since the last song book. I figured that they would come out with a song book in 2001 because that's 17 years after the last one. Three years later still nothing.

I'm sure this will be the year of the new song book. They got to keep the cattle grazing and entertained. They need to give them a new candy-coated "Gift from Jehovah!" to make the people dance, rejoice, and endure another repetitious boring summer convention.

What? Is that all??? The CD only half filled? You figure with all the trees they kill with all the paper they generate year after year, they'd be able to fill several DVDs at least.

Since it is a fact that most of the articles and information are just recycled from previous articles, I guess you can fit all the Watchtower's genuine information on a diskette and still have space left over to save a spreadsheet and a wordpressing document.

My Catholic wife chastised the JWs coming to our door

my wife just called me to tell me that as she was leaving the house this morning to run some errands, there were 2 " nice looking" ladies coming up our drive.

we have a 200 foot driveway and she encountered them already on our property approaching the house, just as she was driving out.

she said she knew they were jws because of the conservative looking clothes and cheap vinyl book bags.

Let's hope that what your wife said to them would pinch their hearts to realize this truth before the indoctrination meetings hardens their hearts to standard Watchtower hardline.

Addressing the letters to the WTS or the congregation will only fall on blind eyes. He's got to get the letters to the rank-and-file to do the most damage.

Looooong Prayers!

ok, who remembers all those long prayers?

especially at the district conventions!.

we had our convetions at a small hockey arena and the stairs were really steep.

Somehow a GB member would have to say a long prayer - which was annoying.

I didn't appreciate long prayers for mealtimes. By the time the brother finished the hot meal cooled off.

Neither did I appreciate brothers who would use prayer time to rehash the talk just given, the assembly, the Watchtower article, etc etc.
