hey everyone,.

i just wanted to let you know that we have a disassociated jw who is about to die from ovarian cancer.

the cancer spread because she would not take a blood transfusion during an operation that attempted to contain the cancer while she was a jw.

onthego, how do you know for certain that it would not have happened if she'd not been a JW? How can you be so completely certain that it had not metastisized before the surgery? You cannot be sure.

Overstating your case ruins it for many people. I'm less likely to listen to anyone yelling in my face some over-stated, irrational jumble of words, than I am to someone who quietly states their case and explains rationally how the lack of a transfusion diminished her chances for a full recovery.

i just had to share this experience.

i have been going to the dentist since august to get some needed work done.

i hate the dentist worse than anything on earth, but this time it has been a pretty nice experience.

I don't understand the problem actually. Many doctors practicing in the USA were trained in foreign countries, but they passed the tests here. We have doctors in the USA who went to medical school in Mexico City. They, for one reason or another, couldn't get into medical school in the US, so applied at the schools in Grenada and in Mexico City and likely other foreign countries.

Is dentistry different? Or are there some countries that the US recognizes and other countries that they won't accept the schooling from?

Thank you John. That is understandable. But I think it would be more fair and less alarmist sounding to say that the WTS policy on blood diminished her chances of a full recovery. The cancer may have metastisized already before the time of her surgery, but not yet shown itself in other parts of her body.

Using terms like "murder" is inflammatory and sounds too aggressive and less rational. When you are speaking against the WTS, be sure to stay above them, not sinking to their level. The blood policy diminished her chances at a full recovery, but it wasn't murder and at this point, there is just no way to know if that was the cause or not.

I agree that she was coerced into not having blood, but don't agree that it positively would have made any difference. There's no way to know at this point. How sad.

John123. Did she actually have the surgery? How did a lack of a transfusion cause her cancer to spread? I've never heard of that. Ovarian cancer can be deadly if not caught very early on, and unfortunately it is a difficult cancer to detect. If she lived through the surgery without blood, I'm not sure how not having it caused the cancer to spread. Can you be more detailed please?

Refiner's Fire, I need to ask, what is your porch like? I have a great porch for visitors, so studying on my porch would be no problem if the weather permits. I've got a bench, a chair, a rocking chair, and a porch swing, and I LOVE my porch!

So, did you make them stand for 2 hours? Or do you have a place to sit?

i have taken a break from the baby wait to come to the board and see what is happening.

recently i had a run in with some people from another board, that also attend this board.

in a search of my name on this site, i see that people (two weeks later) are still mentioning this and me.

Wow, I take it back, your style is very similar to Dragon's, very. In fact, when angry you say some of the same things.

You asked me if I thought it was lame to accuse based on writing style.

No, I think using writing style is a valid means of discerning such a thing. There are people who have several accounts on one board. Sometimes there are parallels that observers notice.

Dragon has six letters. Donkey has six letters.

They both begin with D. No big deal really. No proof there at all.

The thing that makes me think you couldn't be Dragon is that he is way to insecure, IMHO, to use a handle like "Donkey." The other is that you do spell a bit better than he does. You seem to, when you aren't angry, have a slightly better command of the language. Otherwise, from this latest few posts, I might think you are he.

The ISP address isn't the final thing. It might make a difference, might not. When Dragon started a new account to pretend to be a woman he didn't like, he stupidly used the same server, so was easily caught out. He wouldn't likely make that mistake again.

Now, if you are not Dragon, don't sweat it, because those accusations will fade into history before long. If you are Dragon, you'll show yourself one of these days. Dragon has particular issues he gets on a roll about and falls into a somewhat immature response pattern when angered. You seem to fall into a similar pattern.

So, don't sweat it. Over time this issue will either fade or, if you are Dragon, you'll be found out. No biggie either way. This ain't national security, honey.

Are we really apostates?

if the jehovah witnesses are really the one and only true religion, and we did quit, then i agree that we are apostates.

but since we seem to all agree that they made wrong prophesies, and changed so often the meaning of the bible, why then do we call ourselves apostates?

if we quit a religion that didn't have the truth, then why are we so hard on ourselves?

Of course we aren't *really* apostates. It's a label applied by the WTS to people like us. But it is only by their definition we are apostates. By my own definition, I'm of course not an apostate.

However, I wear the label proudly. To be a JW apostate means we've broken free of that false religion, or that controlling cult, or however the definition fits for you.

If I was still a JW, then apostate would be a dirty word. I'd gasp in self-rightous horror that so and so had become an apostate. In my own haughty JW way, I'd turn my nose up and be holier-than-thou.

But from this side of the fence, hey the word "apostate" when applied to be in relation to the WTS, makes me feel GOOD.

Spirituality

many xjws and others i have encountered in my journey express disdain for religion but they instead refer to having found a spirituality.

do you mean that instead of seeking fulfillment from life that you have made an inward journey to self discovery?

or do you mean that you have found god by journeying outward?.

Donkey, I think there is a very subtle difference between detachment and letting go of attachment. Maybe I'm nit-picking. We humans, by our very nature, become attached to other people, material goods, geographical locations. To let go of the attachment would mean that we could still enjoy being in a particular place, owning certain items, and enjoying certain people. But we'd still recognize that everything is temporary, everything. Everything changes. We are in a state of decay to some degree or other.

From that point, it is possible to let go of an attachment, yet still enjoy whatever it is, and accept when it is gone.

It is hard not to form attachments, but I think at some point if a person is used to letting go of attachments, that it comes natural to not form unnatural attachments to things. By unnatural, I mean pretty much the way we usually do it. It isn't even rational to cling to money or even a tea cup as though our happiness depended on them. But we humans do that pretty consistently.

By becoming detached from things, it seems to me that detachment involves being neutral, which might not be the ideal.

Donkey, I didn't confuse you with Dragon. I've only read a couple of your posts, and don't think your style is close enough to Dragon's to be him. Usually when people pretend to be someone else, they dumb down their style. You Donkey, know how to spell and use bigger words than Dragon uses. I could be wrong, but I don't believe for a moment that you are Dragon. I haven't read enough here to know, but I hope you are not mean like he can be.

As for Golden Girl. Dragon did a number on her that I wouldn't do on ANYONE. You name the person, I would never talk that way to someone. It lacked class through and through. He kept going and going and going. When she said he was abusive, he claimed that she said he was a child abuser. It got ridiculous. He was beyond mean on that board. Another poster he kept talking about all the things she'd said, and he twisted it and manipulated it until it bore little resemblence to what she'd actually said. One got the feeling that he liked to fight, especially with women.

He uses the word "hate" all too often. He seems embued with the "wisdom of youth". The word "hate" is one that is usually dropped from normal conversation by the time a person hits their mid-20s. Most people go through the "wisdom of youth" phase in their late teens, early 20s. He may have sort of been held back by the WTBS, and maybe will grow out of it yet.

He spent many long hours on the boards, all day sometimes, and into the wee hours sometimes. Yet he has a fulltime job and a pregnant wife? Internet use is fun in one's spare time. But when it reaches the level of taking time away from family, then it has gone too far.

I have withheld comment until now. I did comment yesterday, then deleted the text of the message. I don't want to go after him like he's gone after other people. I think he's like a little kid. I don't want to hurt him, but would like to see him straighten up and grow up some.
