The whole thing is a joke, there's no evidence that gods name was ever used in the NT and in the old testament 2500 + times the word that was used was Elohim. Elohim is plural meaning gods and yes bible scholars and Hebrew linguist's will try and tell you that the Israelites use the plural word to denote God's awesomeness yet no where has this use of the plural been used anywhere else in the Hebrew language. Its a conspiracy, plain and simple. They also try to tell us that the bible is only speaking about one god Jehovah yet in the Psalms 84:11 he described as a Sun and in Malachi 4:2 again a Sun this time with wings.(sounds like Ra to me) Lets not forget Hosea 12:9 and 13:4 god is from Egypt yep from Egypt. Oh and lets not forget about the fresco painted on the floor of a 5th century temple near Jerusalem that depicts the God Helios which is the Greek name for yep you guessed it RA. So at least three bible writer's thought they were writing about RA earlier bible writers were taking about El and Baal Hadad from the Phoenician pantheon and even other writers were writing about Enlil, Enki and Marduk . I cant believe I ever believed this book the bible, what a load of Crap. -

An excellent, very civil debate between an atheist and a JW.
by Island Man ini stumbled upon this video while doing my periodic youtube search of the keyword "jehovah".
in the video a jw (actually two jws, but only one does most of the speaking) debate an atheist.
the atheist is a mild-mannered iranian who at first seems deceptively easy and clueless (i think it has to do with the fact that english is not his first language), but soon proves he's no walkover - calmly, mildly and civilly.

This is one of many reasons why JW's will sit in front of carts and never engage people when they come by and look at what's on the cart. JW's can't win any discussion. This is thier future silent ministry. -

Build the Ark
by enigma1863 inken ham is trying to build an ark amusement park in kentucky.
i actually want him to build a real ark, or at least have a self contained floating zoo because this one act can show how ridiculous this story in the bible truly is.. lets make this simple.
1000 pairs of animals on one boat including provisions.

Advice Needed - JW Grandparents
by What Now? inmy family has been out (inactive no meeting attendance or field service) for just over two years..
weve made many changes in our lives, including with our personal appearances (tattoos, piercings etc) that are a pretty obvious sign that we arent going back any time soon.
our families went through a period of time about a year ago when they made a lot of threats that if we left the truth, they wouldnt even be able to share a meal with us, they would stay loyal to jehovah etc.

Here's an idea let your kids be with them as if normal but when your kids are back with you show them and talk to them about the beliefs of the JW's. Explain why you no longer believe and show scriptures that blow up thier doctrine. If you don't believe in the Bible then show your kids why and some of the reasons. Reason with your kids and show them that your willing to discuss these kinda of things with them. Also let them know that as a member if the JW religion they are not allowed to discuss things debated or even question thier leaders. This will be a great exercise in critical thinking that will be valuable to your kids one day. -

I was a teenager in the 80s and we had about twenty kids in my hall all about the same age. Of those twenty all but about two or three left. Some may have come back later but at least 15 never came back. I have a sister that was born 15 years after me and went to the same hall. Of all the kids in the hall when she was a teenager over half have left. The pew servey seams to indicate that the growth in this country is mostly Spanish speaking and only because of them this country hasn't seen a decline. So as more and more Spanish speaking Websites go up showing ttatt this too will come to an end. The hall I grew up in is now a ghost of its former self. -

Acts 15... common decision making or peace treaty?
by StarTrekAngel inacts 15, along with the fds parable, are the basis for the existence of the modern day gb.
it is not difficult for anyone who is beginning to study the bible with jws to see this and be utterly convinced of the matter.
even after learning ttatt i had a hard time departing from the idea that a centralized body of administration may have existed then and may need to exist now.

On your second point, it was the writers of the gospels that seamed to like the idea of a all loving God Jesus and that he was all about loving one another and everyone getting along, forgiveness etc. This was a gnostic idea, hippies of the day so to speak and some of the Pauline writing mirrored this same idea. But let's not forget most Christian scholars today believe that several of the Pauline letters were written before the gospels. As for the GB they are not even close to this hippie love everyone idea, they more closely resemble Marxist communists, serve the machine idea with them being at the head of the snake. -

Paul went to Jerusalem to deal with the issue of circumcision because it was ones from thier that were going up to where he was at and teaching something different that what he taught. He did not recognize a central authority even James was said not to govern over Paul but just told him to look after the needy. The people that wrote these early Christian writings thought Jesus and the Holy Spirit was the only authority needed.
