The oldest bible put together codex sicanicus (spelling) never says Jesus was the son of God either. As one chips away at the older bibles and individual bible texts it show a lot different ideas then we see in print today. Like you said the words lord or Elohim are in the Septuagint but not the Tetragrammaton . It's also important to know that in the oldest bibles they have the apocrypha books or at least some of them. And in the Dead Sea scrolls there's other books not even in the bible yet these writing were very important to some of the Jews .

Comparing the Septuagint to the Masoretic Text
by ILoveTTATT2 ini am going to start a thread comparing the septuagint to the masoretic text.for those who do not know what the septuagint and the masoretic text are, here's an introduction on wikipedia:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/septuagint.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/masoretic_text.
i think that, more than anything else, the fact that the septuagint and the masoretic text are so different, is what made me stop believing in the bible.. since the new testament writers quoted from the septuagint, not from the masoretic text, one would think that the septuagint should be in all the current bibles, but the case is that most bibles today use the masoretic text as the basis of their old testament.

Young JW's attitudes
by Phizzy ini met an old friend last evening, a great guy, an xjw for longer than me.. during a conversation about our experiences since fading (neither of us are da'd or anything) we got to talking about the young jw's.. his wife is still in, and he has two lovely daughters who he is trying to teach the art of critical thinking so that they can make the right choice in the future.. what worries him though is that he is convinced almost all young jw's do not give a "proverbial" if it is the truth or not, they simply wish to remain in it because of the social aspects, loads of friends and activities that they feel safe partaking in etc etc.. so how do you convince these young people that they would have a better life if they left ?.
they see it as losing all their friends, and being alone and trying to build new relationships, which is mostly true.. how do we convince them to make the leap ?.
should they ?.

I think most would leave if it wasn't for the friends and family. If they stopped the shunning the cult would disintegrate in just a few years.

Mounded From Clay
by konceptual99 injust sitting through this week's wt study and just spent 5 minutes listening to multiple answers where people are convinced that jehovah made humans from clay, literally forming adam like a sculpture then breathing life into him.. it's embarrassing to think i basically thought the same....

What's even more sad is in both Egyptian and Sumerian mythology they each have a god older then jehovah that molded man out of clay.

I find it amusing that those of us that have researched the subjects in the bible like the great flood and have read what archeologists and other scientists have to say are considered by you as being children. But that's ok because children are much more open minded and willing to learn the old people.
Just a heads up if you want to stay on point like your opening post about the sabbath you need to just mention points related to the subject only otherwise the thread will go all to hell.
Another piont about blood the last part of Leviticus chapter 17 says that if a man find an animal already dead he can eat it blood included and only become unclean until the evening. So one can have a transfusion and then take a shower and he will be fine in gods eyes. But if you still disagree with what the bible really says and agree with the jws the explain how it's ok in gods eyes to have a blood transfusion using cows blood , because that permissible by the jws?

False Prophecy in the Bible: Zebulun

Ok first off the bible is contradictory when it comes to the sabbath. 2 Jesus said nothing about eating blood especially killing yourself by not taking in blood. Math 12 Jesus says we desire mercy not sacrifice and in math 15 nothing eaten can defile a man. Also science shows us that in every drop of human breast milk there is roughly 1 million white blood cells .
As far as them being right about holidays not, read Romans chapter 14 and Colossians . Hell fire is talked about in the New Testament and Jesus did go to the underworld.
Trinity was not a concern be early Christians because they were worshipping Jesus and the new promoted God. The church only made the trinity a deal when others were saying that Jesus was an invented God as well as some other issues so they made Jesus a trinity with his father.
Keep up your research and maybe since the sabbath is a big deal to you, you should look into the 7 th day Adventists ...oh and one other thing 800,000 years of ice core samples drilled out of the South Pole show no world wide flood event. The Grand Canyon again second deepest canyon in the world and millions of years old and it shows no sediment layer of a flood. Again check out the ice cores

I believe these were attached to the library at Alexandria. I have read these were schools that taught the art of healing. I believe they worshipped Serapis and have read these schools were spread all over the levant and as far north as Britain. Some say these schools were the beginnings of Christianity.

general legal advice and direction.
hi wifi.. i don't believe these have been seen before.. one is a general guideline given to elders who report a child safety issue in the congregation, and the second is the form they have to return to the legal department.. they are both recent forms.. the questionnaire has an interesting question at a.6 stating if the legal dept has advised to contact the authorities yes or no.

How does these forms compare with the new letter sent to the USA elders?
