Pete's got a good piont. It looks as though the JWs are pathetically trying to make it look like persecution. Climbing a gate when it's wide open just a couple feet down, that's a jw for sure...

Second Temple Judaism's Iranian Connections - something to think about
by fulltimestudent inthe jw's (and many other christians) believe that their religious beliefs are derived from yhwh who personally taught men of old the truth.. this view is not supported by evidence, on the contrary, when we consider the religious beliefs of neighbouring peoples, we can find evidence that the jewish elite were influenced by the religious beliefs of their surrounding neighbours.. this short video purports to demonstrate a connection between jewish thinking at the start of second temple judaism and the iranians who practised zoroastrianism.
.
i (at this time) find the suggestion that the jews conflated their yhwh with the zoroastrian divinity somewhat difficult, but its worth thinking about.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bglgcnjz7_8&t=269s.

And if you move on into the Christian Era you'll find that most of what is taught in the New Testament comes from Egypt. Even part of the Old has Egyptian influences. Curcumsision, baptisms, ark of the covenant, etc.
In the New Testament ideas like life after death in a paradise or heaven. Having a spirit. Judgment, heart condition, second death, lake of fire, and more all come from the much earlier Egyptian religion.

Do you still go to meetings?
by NikL inas i was sitting in the meeting last night i thought about this question.. sometimes it feels really lonely because i don't connect with most others in the congregation and i have to be so careful with the ones with whom i do associate.. quick rundown on my life...got baptized at 17...married at 20...became inactive at 28 wife still active though...came back to meetings with her 20 years later just to keep her quiet and see if they had changed (for a while i actually thought they had)...now i am still inactive and haven't gone out in service or anything.
i just go to meetings with my wife who is happy as a lark to have me there with her...just go to meetings and think...and think...and think.... anyway, i just wondered if there are any out there like me who are going to meetings and nothing else?.

I think if I walked in to my hall I would be dfd on the spot. These guys are really scared of those of us that use our brains. They were warning other elders in other halls about me all the way back when I just asked a few questions.

Jehovah's Limp Witnesses Pointed Me to JW.org When I Was Willing to Talk
by steve2 inseveral months ago i approached a nice young couple who were standing by a jw literature stand in my local community.
they were pleasant and polite but incredibly stilted when it came to answering my "innocent" questions about their beliefs.
this was the occasion of jws featuring the article headlined "is religion dying?".

I remember years ago at the airport seeing Harikrishna types man a stand waking around handing out tracts and wearing really wired robes and they were all shaved bald too, except the woman. I would think what a bunch of wired cult freaks, now the JWs are the same!

Michael Cremo and the book Fobbiden archaeology
by Crazyguy init my understanding that he's claiming that humans have lived on earth for millions of years.
it looks as though he's even showing different archaeological findings to support his claim.
he seams to be claiming that other inferior humanoids could not created some of the things found and i guess modern scientists would agree on that single piont.. its also if interest to find out that his religious beliefs maybe behind his ideas.

So cofty have you read his book and what's your thoughts on some of his ideas. One piont in particular is his talking about a site in Mexico that a team of geologist dated to 250,000 years old. These findings ruined the career of the lead geologist. I remember watching a documentary on this site and it was very compelling that maybe indeed the geologists were right.
Again in not saying I agree with Michael but with more and more artifacts poping up that date to several hundred 100 years old and possibly older. What's you opinion on the age of modern man and do you think that older humanoids may have been able to create tools and art?

Why Did JWs Abandon Brooklyn for the Sticks?
by Room 215 ini may have missed this, but can anyone tell me what was the pretext the gb concocted to justify their abandonment of a perfectly suitable, high-profile, high-visibility complex in what is arguably the world's greatest metropolis for the bucolic isolation of upstate new york.
any how does the move square with their purported belief in the imminence of armageddon?

I also think that the bad economy back in 2008-2009 had a lot to do with it. If one really looks at how they've acted over the past few years you can tell that these were finally told some news that was bad. I'm thinking that somewhere along the line it came to light to the GB that the number of JWs in the cult wasn't as large as they've been led to believe and that a huge number were leaving.
Once this news got to the GB or whomever is really pulling the strings things started happening quickly to try to save the sinking ship and that why we have now a much different cult . A cult that is smaller in expenses, no longer doing much printing and is trying thier darndest to shield thier members from any out side source like people asking questions etc.. This is why they now direct people to the website, sit behind carts and are being taught less and less since even the Bible exposes them as a fraud.

Its my thought that maybe modern man has indeed been around longer then 100,000 years but that also these lesser humans may have had the ability to create and do things more advanced then scientists currently believe. People keep unearthing artifacts that indicate that man in some form has been around for a very long time and they were able to create tools and art. Your thoughts?

Share with your relative the scriptures where Jesus says that "we desire mercy not sacrifice " Mathew chapter 12 I believe the. In Mathew chapter 15 he says "nothing entering into a man can defile him" then explain that in the 70s jws were told not to have any transplants for that was canabalism yet just 13 years later they changed thier minds. Then maybe relate to the new WT where they say they are neither inspired nor infalable .
I think she will die if you don't try since no other JW will be excepted. One last thing you may relate to her that they allow cows blood as per a KM so you may ask why is cows blood ok but not human, you also may add that in human breast milk there 1 million white cells per drop.
