  Who was/is the promised Messiah ? Jesus or Immanuel

  in isaiah 7:14 "therefore jehovah himself will give you men a sign look the maiden herself will actually become pregnant and she is giving birth to a son and she will certainly call his name immanuel".

  this scripture is attributed to the virgin birth of jesus from his mother mary to become the messiah.

  the problem is the name of the messiah isnt jesus its immanuel .

  The Syrian Dan-El

  i started reading deceptions and myths of the bible by lloyd graham tonight, and graham mentions that the book of daniel, like the story of joseph, is ripped off from a syrian poem about another hero named daniel (or dan-el).. a cursory google search doesn't pull up anything.

  is this accurate?

  has this ancient poem survived?

  I think Daniel was written closer to the first century and the writer like it was stated didn't do to well on his history.

  What about this idea that primitive man like neanderthal and others all were of thicker build? Thicker bones and heads etc. , then we come along and we're much thinner and there doesn't seem to be and in between human model. I'm not arguing against evolution at all but wondering what may of happened in this case?

  The original poster is right, there are a ton of scriptures that state the church and the followers were following Christ. It's his and they are to worship him he's been exalted. True christians and worshippers and followers of Christ. The New Testament is all about Christ and that's why you never see the fathers name written in the New Testament. They were promoting a new god which in all reality is a old god.

  Church means body of people similar to that of the word congregation. This is the excuse JWs would use. You would be better off hammering home how the JWs don't follow the teachings of Christ as proof that their not gods chosen church. In fact when push comes to shove they have to admit that they for the most part are nothing but followers of the 144,000 which is in their opinion the true christians all other that are a part of the religion must follow them in order to be saved, following man instead of Christ, isn't there a scripture about that?

  The name is similiar and I think is goes back to the writings of a Berrous or however it's spelled. This guy also writes a flood story similar to Noah and Gilgamesh. The Bible stories are mostly rip off of older ones The epic of Keret is a story found in the city of Ugarit that may have been the works used for the Bible story of Jericho. This is just one example. The book of Daniel has more writings in it if you look at the Greek Septuagint.

  I'm wondering what prompted these ads? Yes we know the cult is guilty but I don't believe there has been a case where the cult lost and was hit with enough damages to warrant the sharks to get in the water. Wonder what we know they don't? Wonder if there has been a lot of out of court settlements that are large in payouts or what's going on?

  the Book of Enoch and the Nephilim

  i've heard all my cognizant life that angels from heaven looked upon the daughters of men, took wives, and their wives bore giants called nephilim.. i've heard all my adult life about the book of enoch and why it's apocryphal and to be avoided.. so tonight i was curious enough to download an e-book and have a look, since dothemath had the thread about rarely used scriptures and the book of jude directly quotes from the book of enoch.. if jude quotes from enoch, shouldn't both or neither of them be canonical?

  if you consider jude canonical, then enoch should be too.. hey, how many fallen angels were there again?

  two thirds of heaven, right?
