I like how they blowveate how they are speaking for Jehovah yet in an interview with the lead attorney one of the GB admitted to not being able to speak to Jesus his mediator between him and his god.

18 carefully follow the latest directions.. do we faithfully follow the latest directions that jehovah has given us?
if so, we will not rely on always doing things the way we have done them in the past.

Two witness rule: Stop using it, its not working on JWs!
by StephaneLaliberte inmost jws don't see this as a problem.
they reason that.
just like the jws, the police will not convict a pedophile over the story of one victim alone, there must be collaborative evidence.

Remember the Dateline show years ago, the elder that was accused by a girl in the hall denied it. When the family called the cops under their interrogation he admitted to it. The elders dfd the whole family and the congregation supported the elder even as he went off to prison.
Also a sister in the hall i grew up in had two sons molested by an older boy in the hall. The elders did nothing and just dragged their feet. She called the cops and after the investigation the perp went to juvenile detention for awhile. The elders treated the mother like crap after and she either left the cult or moved to another congregation.

If you're expecting a mass exodus anytime soon, FORGET ABOUT IT!
by nowwhat? ini have to make a token appearance at the k.h.
once a month or so and this week went to a different hall.
and believe me they are all still totally oblivious to all the negative news about the pedophiles and shunning that have come under scrutiny by the media and other governments.

Three Simple Reasons Why an Assault-Weapons Ban Is Bad Policy
by freemindfade ini keep saying this is a bad place/policy to put all the time, energy and resources if you really do in fact care, or if you are just riding the agenda bandwagon: .
an assault-weapons ban is irrelevant to suicide deaths.
the large majority of gun deaths are suicides, and there is no credible argument that an assault-weapons ban will have the slightest effect on suicide.

The simple fact is this, the USA is a very open country with huge boarders and tons of ocean front property. This means it’s not to hard to smuggle things in. Second if they outlawed guns tomorrow how are they going to get all the guns out of everyone’s hands. It would have to be voluntary as well as some sort of mandatory collection process.
So in the end only the criminals would have the guns, so mass shootings by kids and crazies may go down but by criminals and gangs go way up. How does this solve the problem??
Final thought, I live in a state where open carry is legal and concealed carry is also legal with a background check. Tons of people here packing and there hasn’t been any mass shootings for awhile. I’m willing to bet if someone started shooting people someone would shoot back.

Jephthah's Daughter
by cantleave ini have read somewhere that jephthah's daughter did not really go into temple service but was a victim of ritual sacrifice.
the bible says that after weeping over her virginity that the maidens would visit her annually.
how could they visit her if she was killed?.

Bottom line the word for burnt offering was used the same exact word when Abraham was to kill issac. I too believe this story was just cleaned up a bit over time justbkuke the story of Sampson. Josephus wrote that Sampson was a retelling of the Hercules story it to was later changed just a bit. -

MPs demand action over Jehovah’s Witness abuse allegations March 26, 2018
by Not_Culty inthe guardian (uk), monday, march 26, 2018. mps are demanding government action after more than 100 people contacted the guardian with allegations of child sexual abuse and other mistreatment in jehovah’s witness communities in the uk.. “i am extremely concerned, but not surprised, by the allegations of child abuse within the jehovah’s witness movement.
whenever there is a closed society with an inherent power imbalance, the potential for abuse is there,” said the labour mp sarah champion.. she said she would be raising the issue in parliament and demanding that the government take actionto make sure all children were safe.. alex chalk, the conservative mp for cheltenham, said he planned to raise the issue in parliament, saying it was not just an historical issue but an ongoing child safety concern.. “my instinctive thoughts are that the sheer numbers and seriousness of the allegations coming forward is concerning ... if even half the allegations coming to light are true then it’s clear that an entrenched culture of cover-up and flawed in-house investigations continues to this day,” chalk said.. champion said she was concerned that victims had to report their abuse to elders, without independent scrutiny.. she also expressed concern that abuse claims can only be taken before a committee for investigation if there were two witnesses to it.
“abuse happens in the shadows, so to ask for a second witness is ludicrous and effectively prevents reporting,” champion said.. read full article:https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/mar/26/mps-demand-action-over-jehovahs-witness-abuse-allegations.

So you are saying that active JWs seen this and are now responding to you? I would think that most JWs don’t watch the news or would immediately turn off the show?

People are leaving a little because their
treated badly by the congregation, a little because their victims of sexual abuse, a little because thier blamed for something by the elders that they didn’t do, a little because their gay, a little because they learn Ttatt, a little because they learn of sexual abuse coverups, a little because of gossip a little because their beat by their mates and nothing is done, a little because their screwed over by some elders and a little because their driven to have a life and don’t see any possibilities in the cult.
Its a cult that’s dying by a thousand cuts, halls are closing , congregations are merging old people are dying. In the end the bad press will only wake a few, but it will also make aware many in the world and even less will consider the cult as something they want to join. In the end they’ll still be around but they will be much smaller and even less significant.

Disfellowshipped/disassociated – How did your parents handle it?
by Richard_I into those who were disfellowshipped/disassociated – how did your still-in parents handle it?.
i don’t want to fade, so i am thinking about disassociating soon – i don’t care if i’m playing by the org’s rules, i just want out.. however, i am concerned about how my parents will react.
i don’t want them to become super depressed or whatever due to me leaving the org.. i don’t want them to be hurt by my decision to leave the org, but i feel like there is no way of avoiding this..

Don’t DA especially if your still living with them, that would be like cutting your own throat. Wait till you out of thier home and then fade away. Many parents still have relations with their kids even when their no longer active.

Scholarly interview on the existence of Jesus
by careful inperhaps this has been linked here before.
if that's the case, i'm sorry.
however, new people join, others miss things, some forget, so i thought it was worth posting, especially since this issue comes up from time to time and some here have never worked it out or are in the process of trying to do so.

What’s interesting is one can find writings by people like Plato and others that describe in great detail a guy like Jesus and what he would say and teach before he even existed. It’s almost like someone took these ideas and writtings by others to then invent a guy a messiah named Jesus and then took many of the ideas of the then prevailing messianic religions or cults of the day combined them in to a new deity and again called him Jesus which this name means savior and was already being used in the Greek Septuagint.
Oh wait, that’s exactly what happened.
