Yeah it’s truly amazing how people can turn off their brain towards someone that no longer in their cult or dfd.
I recently told my youngest child one of the reasons why I don’t go to the Kingdom Hall. He’s about 8 and noticed he was working on creating the solar system with out planets and the sun. I used this opportunity to tell him that the Bible writers thought that the earth was flat over 50 such scriptures and that they were just a bunch of goat herders that didn’t know much.
Did say it that way exactly but since then I’ve have noticed he’s treating me better much more in to me so to speak. I’ll be sharing more bible truths with him in the future.

Ending Of Suffering/Enlightenment/Nirvana Mind States Discussion
by Brokeback Watchtower ini put this under news and world events.
because i didn't know where else to put it.. anybody interested in this subject feel free to comment a sorta satsang if you will.. do you think it is possible for one to achieve a mind state free from fear and all other negative emotional states and reach a higher plane of mental processes in encumbering the brain of processing negative emotions.. i think insight can be gained by looking at this subject psychologically and if their is a way to this nirvana state take it.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/nirvana.

One has to ask how much of this is practiced using psychedelic drugs ? People have been using drugs for thousands of years and I can only imagine how much spiritual ideas and writings as well as practices are related to or come from the use of drugs?

Are there close parallels between Deuteronomy 32:8, Genesis 10 and the Ugaritic tablets?
by I_love_Jeff inaccording to these sources (city of ancient ugaritic tablets found in 1928) , elyon divided up all the nations into seventy nations, one for each of his sons (elim) .
sons of god makes the most sense than the sons of israel-deut.
32:8 especially since there was no nation of israel listed in the table of nations.

Genesis was most likely written after Deuteronomy. The list of patriarchs Noah back to Adam is extended by two names from the earlier Sumerian writtings about a great flood.
About the time of Berrous is when this seemed to happen and Howthebiblewascreated had mentioned to me is was also at this time that the demensions of the ark in the Genesis story become what they are today, for earlier stories make the ark many different sizes but nothing like the Ark of Genesis.
One has to remember that the Bible writtings have many instances where the writers took writtings from other sources to put into the Bible.
Proverbs has connections to Ugarit and the writings of Amenope. Some of the psalms can be connected to Ugarit as well as parts of Daniel.
The passover festival could possibly be connected to Ugarit. Genesis has similarities to that of the Enuma Elish and theres a bunch of stories from Ugarit and Sumeria that found there way into the Bible.

Does Jehovah need any protection?
by I_love_Jeff indoes jehovah need to be protected by a zealous scribe***** (masoretic text) or anyone else?
deuteronomy 32:8 is a textbook example of how later scribes sometimes changed the biblical text in a misguided attempt to “protect” god’s reputation.
deut 32:8, eliminates references to other divine beings (32:8, “sons of god”; 32:43, “heavenly ones” and “gods”).

To me these changes were made to get to the idea of a monotheist belief. Only one god. Elohim means gods plural and I believe the original texts says Elohim not Angels or sons of Israel.
There is also some idea floating around that the name Israel was used as the name of a god in some supposedly ancient writting from Phoenicia but I can not find the source to this idea.
Anyway yes gods got shrunk down to god and many of the writings in the Bible aren’t even talking about the same god. There are writtings that can be traced back to Enki, Enlil, Marduk, Ammon, Osiris, El, Baal , Inanna, Zues just to name a few.

Yeah way over the head of JWs as they don’t have a clue about anything not told to them by their leaders.
Can you list the source for your Ugaritic comment? I know of an older Septuagint text that stated that the sons of god were allocated the nations but didn’t know they found a similar text at Ugarit.

Think about this! All the signs of the last days from Matt.24. That jw's point to, happened in the 1st half of the last century!
by nowwhat? inand now it's 2018 and we are still here.
that's like saying back in 1930 the events of the civil war show we are in the last days!
it has now been that long!.

All you have to do is ask yourselves when would you rather be alive, around 1914 or during the Black Plague or maybe when the mongals were ravaging the world or many other times when the world was way crazier scary then around the time of 1914? Was half all of Europe’s population killed during WWII I know one of the plagues did that? What time in history was worse after the 1 century?

There is No Way Out For Me
by Addison0998 ini have come to the conclusion that there is no way for me to ever leave.
although i have some friends at work, my whole social structure are witnesses.
even if i move congregations, my parents have contacts everywhere who will tell them if i’m not active.

Look while you living at home there’s nothing you can do so don’t fight it. Make a plan for an education so you can have a better life when you leave your parents house. When you have moved make sure to move away from your parents congregation then reduce your meeting attendance to maybe one a week. As far as hours in service . Go out once maybe twice a month and fake your hours. Go out maybe for a couple of actual real hours but put down 6-8 hours in a month. Enough so they leave you alone but not to much where they start to want to groom you as a MS or something.
You can go one this way all your life if you wish.

So let me get this right about what your saying about Jesus!
by nowwhat? injesus the non judgmental man who ate with sinners, fed the hungry, showed compassion for the poor, and who wanted mercy not sacrifice is the going to be leading the charge out of heaven with fire in eyes and out for blood.
killing 99.9 % of all men, women and children on earth.
because they didn't heed some obscure religious group that hadn't gotten one bible prophecy right in almost 150 years?!

Well acording to the Bible all those that believe in him are saved and will have everlasting life. So we will need to reduce the death toll a bit. But yes in the gospels he the nice loving son of god say that those that don’t believe need to be killed. But all and all he a really nice guy !

Since the entire premise is wrong all I can say is No. No where in the Bible is there any proof of a deity or son of a deity coming invisibly in any year let alone 1914, what’s the point of that. Gods son sneaking around, the Bible says all eyes would see him.
Nothing the JWs have said or preached makes any sense when compared to the Bible. The only thing that they could be identified with in the Bible is false prophets.
