Is the blood doctrine idolatrous?
by Fred Franztone ini'm not a god-fearing individual, but when i was still a believer, many suns ago, it occurred to me that the blood doctrine had an idolatrous foundation; it was one of the initial anti-wt thoughts in my mind that eventually led to me leaving the religion and ultimately (and somewhat ironically) to atheism.. the bible says that one should 'abstain from blood', and putting aside whether this is a mistranslation of bloodshed (which i've never bought), the wt are quite picky about which commandments they follow; they don't observe the sabbath, and they've even provided justifications for lying, so why the preoccupation with the blood commandment?
and why is it so serious a matter that it's a disfellowship-worthy offence?
the justification i was always given by elders was that blood is sacred, it's a symbol of life, and whilst the commandment to abstain from blood clearly meant that one shouldn't eat it, it's not unreasonable on the surface to extrapolate it to include transfusions (although some would disagree).. the problem with this reasoning of course is that by abstaining from blood transfusions, death from massive blood-loss is a possibility, unlike with abstaining from eating it.

i've been aware of this theory for years.
as interesting as it is - it's still bullshit.. for future reference, i believe the bible to be a collection of fantasy, myth, real locations and crazy ramblings of psychedelic bloke stuck on patmos.. my reply:.

Well the most important thing to remember is the WT said that Jehovah resides in the Pleiades star cluster.

There’s definitely some Astro theology is the Bible one example is Ezekiel chapter 1 I think, but it’s where he sees god chariot and the 4 living creatures well those creatures are the 4 cardinal points of the zodiac. I don’t think the whole Bible is all about Astro theology though like this man claims. Many of the stories in the Bible are just retellings of stories from Sumeria and I can find know correlation to Astro theology.

How were God’s true worshipers to determine virginity of pagan girls?
by Ireneus inin the genocidal instructions supposedly given by god we find this interesting command: “now kill all the boys.
and kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.” (numbers 31:17, 18).
in the midst of killing and plundering, how were the israelites to determine whether each girl “has slept with a man” or not?.

Let’s be clear, some Jewish or Greek guys got together and pulled some writings from the library at Alexandria then did their best to make these writings fit their ideals and a story about a newly invented people called the Israelites. They then used a god their god at the time and molded these stories around their narrative.
The book of Genesis and its stories originated from Sumeria so they substituted the gods Enlil and Enki for El and an adversary. The story of Moses was probably lifted from a story a legend about the Hyksos. Sampson story was clearly a retelling of Hercules.
Parts of the book of Deuteronomy is older and pure propaganda about a god proping up Hezzekia but even this god maybe not the god we’re led to believe it is today since this king clearly had ties to Egypt. Some of the other biblical writings like the minor prophets were clearly talking about a Egyptian god and even parts of the book of proverbs was lifted word for word from and Egyptian writing. So in the end the stories about Israelites conquering pagans in the Levant and raping girls was some made up fantasy and the archlogical evidence backs this up.

why the watchtower is so short of money
by pepperheart inthe watchtower is so short of money because they have to pay for all the upkeep of so many branch offices around the world.because so many of the branch offices are in very poor countries and they are not balancing the budgets.

WT isn’t a store chain like Sears people will stick around because it’s their religion their faith. WT isn’t going anywhere soon but the good news is as they close down Halls they loose footprint in the community. When Sears closed a store thats one less place for customers to go and these customers quickly forgot about them as a place to shop.
As WT looses foortprint in the comunity they become even more irrelevant. Pretty soon they’ll be like the Hari Krishna that we used to see at the airports. The JWs are already at the airports and already like the Krishna look crazy to the public. All they need to do next is shave their heads and wear some crazy clothes.
Anyway they’ll still be around in 20 years but as their footprint gets smaller it will be even that much easier for kids to leave and the Internet makes it easy for these kids to find the reasons not to come back, all good news in my book.

You can not have a major exodus of members every generation (born in kids) and continue to be solvent. I’m 50 years old and every new generation I seen many of them leave. Almost all the kids I grew up with left. My sister which is a little over ten years younger almost everyone in her generation she grew up with left. A percentage do come back.
When teenagers become adults most leave and yes some come back but I think less and less are coming back as time goes on. This along with the generation of those that joined in the big push pre 1975 about to die off and the cult is definitely in trouble.
Having Kingdom Halls with 200 seats yet only 40-60 publishers showing up is demoralizing so consolidating is the only way to go.

Two Gods seen in the Bible
by Ireneus ina careful reader of the bible can see depiction of two gods in the bible—one that of a loving father figure, and the other an impulsive sort of who has been copied thoughtlessly from other cultures.. 1) god of love (as seen in genesis chapter 1) who creates humans (men and woman simultaneously) “in his image” (which means he gave the best he can to his children, the potential to become like him) as a crown of creation with a command to take care of all species, and goes into silence unconcerned of mankind’s response [gratitude or worship] to him, yet with a presupposition to “renew” in case humans deplete/destroy the resources (mathew 19:28; revelation 21:1-5).
thus god’s action defines him as “the servant of humanity.” (luke 22:26, 27) this is in contrast to the second god (as seen in genesis chapter 2 and 3 and throughout other books) who makes the planning for suffering and death for humans in co-operation with his adversary.. 2) god of impartiality (deut 10:17; mathew 5:44-48) who asks us to love/greet everyone.
this is in contrast to the second god who commands his worshippers not even to greet those who do not share their beliefs.

I have found that several of the stories in the Bible were rip offs and rewritings from older stories not related to any Jew or Israelite. With that being said then some of the character of the god or gods spoken about in the original will or did most likely sneak into the revised writings.
