I had a friend and his father was an owner of a pharmaceutical company and knew many of the board members of the cancer society. He was told that they have no intentions on curing cancer only finding treatments for it.

GcMAF - cure or major treatment for autoimmune disease, cancer, autism, etc, and being suppressed or hype?
by Bad_Wolf insince most people in this group have been taught how to research and fact check with our jw history and getting out, this is a topic that can be constructive to check out.
i stumbled upon this and spent some time researching it, and it's quite interesting.
it's part of your immune system, gcmaf.

Can someone help me figure out something, dealing with paganism?
by Tameria2001 inthe watchtower and quite a few other religious groups don't do certain things because of pagan origins.
they go on about the different holidays, certain traditions, and say they don't do those things because of pagan origins.
yet they turn right around and do other stuff, which does have pagan origins.

The JWs under Rutherford were on a path to be different from most of Christianity so they needed to change doctrine to be different. I think other sects of Christianity do the same or find one specific thought that they find pagan and run with it. That’s how we get groups like the Amish or Mormons etc.

Is the Sell-off of Kingdom Halls Just a Cyclical Process
by RubaDub inwith more and more kh's being sold off, will it only be a matter of time that there will be a push to build new ones?
greater emphasis on donating to build new kh's since some brothers have to drive long distances to attend meetings?
and that smaller communities should have a local kh that is visible to all in the area?.

I could see it happening. Once the consolidation is done then make the left over congregations pay for a new hall that’s a building that can be more easily flipped later on.

Do You Know Of Anyone Who Left JWs And Then Decided To Return?

My last hall I seen about 3 men come back to get reinstated then faded away. One of the three had left the cult and joined the Mormons in 1976. After years he left that cult and came back. I pretty sure his main motive was family since he has some siblings in the cult. Got reinstated then married. I could tell from taking to him I think he’s awake but and older gentleman with really no down side not joining the cult and having ready made friends and a new wife. He was also awake from the Mormons and new some deep secrets of that cult.

Narrow mindedness annoying
by Lost in the fog innone of the brothers and sisters in indonesia were hurt or lost in the recent disaster, according to one of the friends who added "we were all praying for them as soon as we heard it on the news, as you do.
and what about the rest of the population?
i know its nothing new in their attitude to the world outside in general, but it makes me so angry!

Family is now reaping what they sowed and they don't like it.
by Gemmel ini resigned from the jw's in my 20's over 30 years ago, i was immediately shunned by my entire family and it's remained that way with a few exceptions ever since.
one of those exceptions was being contacted by a cousin a few years back and during that conversation i discovered that my mother had been and still was the prime mover in my complete and continuing shunning.
i then used what contacts i had left to confirm it.

Was studying the Bible and getting a better understanding of what it’s like to be a true Christian not a JW when I say some kind of quote about the god of the Canaanites being called EL. I knew from previous studies that the Christian or at least the Jewish god of the Old Testament was also called EL. So I decided to do more research on this canannite god named EL.

References for "Second Temple Judaism"?
by Doug Mason ini plan to develop a study on "the second temple period", the first 600 years of judaism (520 bce to 70 ce).
that's my hope, anyway.. i have listed potential resources, and i would like to know of other sources that could possibly be useful.. my list is at:.

That would be the first temple period for Solomon’s temple either didn’t exist or was in Tanis so no temple in Jerusalem.

Daniel was wrong about the fate of the King of the North…..and so is the WT & others
by deegee inthe king of the north, that is, the king of the country geographically located north of judea/palestine was identified by the actual events of history as the seleucids of syria, in particular, the reign of antiochus iv epiphanes.
the king of the south, that is, the king of the country geographically located south of judea/palestine was identified by the actual events of history as the ptolemies of egypt.
daniel 11:40-45 prophesied that antiochus (king of the north) would make war once again against egypt, and would die on the coast of palestine “between the sea and the holy mountain”.

I read recently that in the Dead Sea scrolls they found writings where people of that time were also playing around with the numbers of Daniel and reinterpreting them to fit a time line closer to theirs and that how they came up with the idea that another messiah would come about 1 ce.
So john Aquila Brown and the millerites weren’t the first to play with the numbers
