Its all about a showy display of righteousness. You can be a complete looser but if you put 10 hours down on the slip each month and do some ass kissing you to can be an elder.

Why do Jehovah's Witnesses keep track of field service hours?
by Faithful Witness ini understand that they claim to have the responsibility to preach to every corner of the earth, so they can encourage armageddon to come quickly.
(matthew 24:14 "and this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
what rationale do they have, for keeping track of their hours and literature placements?

Feb. 2014 WT , whats this all about???
by Crazyguy inread this in another thread,,,,,,,,,feb 2014 wt.
there, they cast doubt on the application of daniel's 70 weeks prophecy to being fulfilled with christ.. "could the first-century jews have calculated the time of the messiahs arrival on the basis of the prophecy of the 70 weeks recorded at daniel 9:24-27 ?
while that possibility cannot be ruled out, it cannot be confirmed.

"Could the first-century Jews have calculated the time of the Messiah’s arrival on the basis of the prophecy of the 70 weeks recorded at Daniel 9:24-27 ? While that possibility cannot be ruled out, it cannot be confirmed. The fact is that there were many conflicting interpretations of the 70 weeks in Jesus’ day, and none come close to our present understanding. "
They stick to the understanding in the Daniel's Prophecy book, but this is a first-pass attempt at unloading that. In my entire life as a JW (nearly 40 years), they've been adamant that the 70 weeks prophecy was absolutely fulfilled in Christ.
Whats going on here and why would they maybe abandoning this interpretation????????

your totally correct. I remember when i was a kid and getting a number 2 talk, you had and intro and a conclusion were you could explain the bible reading and apply it. They don't want people thinking at all now. Even the guy that did the bible highlights was explaning the chapters to be considered in a way that i couldnt make heads or tales of.

Welcome Dog, Just my two cents worth but as a spiritual man when i realized and learned TTATT i also during my bible studies read in Romans and Hebrews where it says that if one knowingly sins hes truly sining or better yet in romans chapter 14 it seems to state that when you have the knowledge you can not go back because then its a sin. So now that you know if you wish to please god you can not turn back or ignore what you know. For me TTATT also open the door to really become more intune with Christ or to find Christ as people would say. This is not to discount Jah in any way but Jesus said that God would call ones to Him.

Just got back and this is what I noticed. It seemed kinda wierd they all talked about service and bible studies and return visits and door step bible studies and how to properly conduct these etc., thats what the weekly meeting is all about. I'm thinking you all are talking about stuff that most of you never experience, I mean how many really have bible studies and door step bible studies 2 maybe 3 people in the whole congregation, what a joke. Its like a bunch of people talking about how to spend the winnings of a lotery ticket as if any have ever won.
The next thing that really bothered me was the number 3 talk i believe, were the sisters are talking about how to respond to house holders that say "they have a personal relationship with God" they went on to talk about what that really means and how one must have an accurate knowledge of the bible to have a real personal relationship with God. I'm think "like you have an accurate knowledge of the bible and who are you to judge someone else relationship with God. But of course we know this is based on the idea that they are they only true ones of God. Last thing that i noticed was the closing prayer and how thankful the brother was for the elders and of course the ORGANIZATION, no mention of Jesus at all except the quick at the end through jesus name we pray.

Going to my first meeting in I think about 6 months or so. I'm going because my son has a talk the bible reading. Anyway how weird to go to a place where everything is so foreign now. I have enough bible knowledge to blow up just about all their doctrines using just the bible. It feels like I'm about to go be among aliens from a different planet. I'm really not sure how all the faders do it? Just a Rant. I'll let you know if I'm shunned by anyone which I expect will happen.

Advise needed please
by EdenOne indear forumites, i need your advise please.. i would like to write a letter to the world headquarters of the jehovah's witnesses regarding a subject that i've published an article recently.
i would like to draw the attention of the gb to said article, which i will send in print form (therefore, no attention would be drawn to the website where it was published).. naturally, because i am a jehovah's witness in good standing in the congregation and what i'll be discussing in my letter will be a dissenting view from the official doctrine/practice, i want to protect my identity and i don't want to be harassed by elders or subjected to any sort of judicial investigation.
nevertheless, i would be very interested in reading their response (if any) to my letter.. how can i do that?

I think your wasting your time, I sent them a letter a few months ago and all i got back was basically "what we publish is what we believe and if we change we will publish it"

A Faders Guide to Field Service
by pronomono inas a fader, i'm working on a mental guide to field service.
because most of this is a mental exercise realizing that your new knowledge, the mental side of things, is what makes it so hard to preach after learning ttatt.
what presentations have you used in field service as a fader to preach the good news without preaching jw propaganda?.

The last time I went out in service i had actually before this place the Teach book with a guy that really seemed interested, when i went back he said he had read the book and was no longer interested. Asking why he said that he had small children and wasnt going to give up birthdays. After I Thought I'm out here trying to get people to come to Gods only true relgion and they throw up man made rules in peoples way,WTF.

Honest survey question on effectiveness of 'apostacy'
by Simon init seems like lots of people have big dreams of 'destroying the watchtower'.
it's usually linked to a story of how they were wronged and want some revenge.
do these 'in your face' attempts to convince people that the truth isn't the truth really have an effect?.

The more people leave and the more people talk it starts a wave, eventually the wave becomes to big to stop.
