I was just shock at how many people in the hall we're just mentally out of it and didn't even seem to notice what was going on. The meetings really do turn off peoples brains. -

Trinity doctrine and bible canonization
by The JHWH inhello, a quick question that came to find and couldn't find easy answer using google so i'ma try here.. so: was the doctrine of trinity decided to be a christian doctrine by the same people who chose which books to include in the bible?
i vaguely remember that both of these subjects were decided at the first council of nicaea.
if this is not the case, then when, where and by whom were these things decided?.

The books of the Bible we're added and taken away over the centuries. At the council of Nicea in 325 it was decided that Christ was in fact son of God but God as well. This wasn't anything new since in past religions sons of gods became gods themselves either do to some great act of bravery, like Marduk defeating the dragon or sometimes the son got his power handed to him like Isis stealing away the power of Ra and giving it to her son Horus. In other cases the son God kills or castrates his father, Greek mythology. -

Jehovahs witnesses fastest growing religion, my ass.
by Crazyguy inthey the wt are always stating this, yet let's look at just one set of figures.
the average birth rate in the world is roughly 18 babies born per thousand.
the catholics have a membership of roughly 1 billion members.

Islandman, the average birth rate is roughly 18 per thousand world wide. if only 10% of the babies born remain in the church that's still 1.8 million way more then what the jws claim each year. -

Literature being discontinued, including Isaiah's Prophecy and Reasoning book
by Richard_I incongregations get an annual letter that tells what can be ordered for literature (it's mainly a list of audio cds/dvds for the deaf), but this time it included publications that will be discontinued, and this included the isaiah's prophecy book and the reasoning book, and i think i saw the draw close to jehovah book.
i meant to take a picture of the letter but forgot.
the branch is only going to give what they have on stock, when that stock depletes that's it, you won't be able to order those publications anymore.. this is in canada so i don't know if this is worldwide..

This religion has gone simpleton, member will just hand out tracks and stand by carts. Everything said at the hall will be a bunch of mumble jumble. Just like Jesus the Bible will be used in name only and of course they can change the Bible more anytime they want to say what they want and the rank and file will eat it up. In the end this religion has become much to do about nothing, because the more they say the more their proven wrong. -

Its interesting you talk about woman so much in your post. In most ancient religions of the Levant goddesses we're revered. In some they we're the Creator God in other they we're truly like the God mother of the earth. The men that put together the old testament and wrote parts of it are the real freaks for they got rid of this concept and relegated the female form to that of just property owned by men. They were like today's Taliban. But what's interesting is archeology has shown that a lot of those Jews back then didn't think the same way. They have found many statues in Jewish house holds of the goddess Ashurah and many writings where God has a wife, again Ashurah. Many if not most Jews back then respected the female and her life giving properties. -

Quote from a book I am reading regarding first century Christianity.
by David Graham ini am reading a very informative book on jehovah's witnesses and their beliefs on first century christianity.
the writer goes on to say that there was no such thing as first century christianity and it only started to take off in the second century onwards.
this book and the writer is very well informed.

I feel your pain ughhhh, I woke up to the cult a couple of years ago and now my wife and I don't talk about much at all anymore. The few times I tried to talk to her about cult stuff she just goes cult defence mode and runs out of the room. The congregation also stepped up to help with the indoctrination of the kids. My problem is dealing with my own feelings and also learning that not only is it a cult but becoming an agnostic. Trying to figure out what to say and teach your kids all the while not getting dfd so your completely out of the picture is not easy.
The religion and the ones in the congregation do what they can to marginalize you so what you say or do is not taken seriously by your kids. The other problem is this is the kids social life, and they have friends their they like. A non believers is really fighting a up hill battle, and I have noticed that when i talk to my oldest son he shuts down mentally a bit. He doesn't want to hear it just want to go along and be part of the group.
I think one of the best things one can do is get your kids doing activities away from the Borg. I have even regretted leaving, thinking that maybe staying in I could be a better shield. I often think that trying to get my kids to become agnostic and living their lives to the fullest maybe to much of a reach. To be a believer and a better more loving Christian may be the only realistic option when they have a devote delusional JW mother.
