The vast majority of the world doesn't know the JW message. The ones that have heard of the cult only know that they don't take blood , don't celebrate holidays and think they don't believe in Jesus. Thier witnessing work has been a huge failure!!

Why did C T Russell choose 606 BC?
by shepherdless ini recently commented on a thread in relation to the 607 bc - 1914 ad calculation, listing problems with the logic and mathematics.
afterwards, i wondered what made ct russell choose 606 bc in the first place.
here is my research so far.. i had read somewhere a suggestion that 606 bc was a number ct russell got from nathan balbour who in turn got it from william miller of the millerites.

Shouldn't John Aquila Brown and the guys who wrote the first book on pyramidology be the Faithful and discreet slave ??

Think about what they could use their money for
by jambon1 inreligions wealth has always made me squirm.
from the catholic church, with its golden city and priceless relics, to the mormons and their absurd temple and huge big fat bank account.
the jw's are the same.

In 1974 they were telling people the world was about to end and the JW members needed to get the word out. But instead of them putting thier money where thier mouth was and advertising that the world was about to end on TV and Radio, they went out and bought the Towers hotel in Brooklyn.

Most these guys got thier start on this from the book "Even tide"by an author from London, Brown was his last name. I'm not sure how Russell pulled pyramidology in to his teaching but that what he mostly claims is where he got the dates from.

Concentrate on your daughter and show her how not normal the JW family a cult is. This and having a normal life is what's important not these clowns.

Oldest Hebrew mention of Jerusalem from 7th century BCE
by Earnest inthe oldest hebrew mention of jerusalem has been found on a rare papyrus from the 7th century bce, as reported in the times of israel of october 26, 2016.. a reference to a consignment of wineskins 'to jerusalem' appears on a 2,700-year-old first temple-era scrap believed to have been plundered from a judean desert cave..

What is the actual spelling of the city name on the document ? Jerusalem would not have been the correct spelling at the time.

What finally helped you to peek behind the curtain
by UnshackleTheChains ini'm interested in finding out what it was that finally enabled you to open your eyes to the real truth of watchtower.
what started me thinking, was the societys very own book...' 'revelation..it's grand climax at hand'.

I was 2000 miles away from my family trying to make some money during the bad recession. Being by myself I had time to really reflect on all things about god and his abandonment of mankind to prove a point. This didn't make sense to me and was the mind set that led me down the rabbit hole. Seeing spiritual witnesses struggle as much as me and more during this down turn in the economy help to push me down the hole as well.

2520-607 = 1913
by schnell ini love math, i love calendars, and somehow, this always gets me.. 2520 - 607 = 1913. not 1914.. 2520 - 606 = 1914. from what i understand, russell realized this.
he had previously used 606 bc, of course, but then he switched it to 607 bc.
i know there was something about no zero year, so it actually should be less one, correct?.

It's also interesting that originally the destruction of Jerusalem wasn't even in the mix, 606 was about the Jewish king being removed from his throne. ( they should of stuck with that) . Not sure when they first taught the destruction of Jerusalem in 607?

Let's not forget when Armageddon didn't happen in 1914 Russell was kind enough to change it to 1915. He even changed the measurements of the pyramid to make it work. What a guy!
