Many join after the RC. They go like I did a few years ago hoping for an emotional and spiritual lift and get nothing. I did the same a few years ago under a lot of stress hoping the RC would give me a pick me up. That something said there would help me.

Nothing new of course except Lett admitting they believed in 1975. He said he didn't because no one knows the day or hour and all the other bethelites thought of him as an apostate. He of course ended up correct. But when he said this Alarm bells went off because they had denied saying anything about 1975 most of my life.

That helped me to get out of the Cult!

if you are, you know it is not easy to remain intimate with someone who thinks you are basically "walking dead".. any thoughts or tips to share with the board?.

My wife has ADD and which is a problem, after I left the cult she has since moved to another room claiming my snoring has gotten worse. She's always busy doing something useless Facebook or playing a games on her phone. She's busy with everything but me and I'm tired of it. I was about done with her before I left the cult, now would gladly leave except for the kids. Some woman want to have fun but could careless about intimacy, and that's my wife. Except when she thought she was dying, then she was sitting by me all the time holding my hand wanting hugs etc. since she's been fixed she's back to the same.

ever since i had become an atheist and started to listen to podcasts such as the one by sam harris or shows like the atheist experience, i began to think that it is my responsibility to believe as many true things and as few false things as possible.

in order to ensure that my beliefs are rationally justified, i started to follow logic, reason, and evidence.

i cannot say that all my beliefs are true, but i can definitely say that i make the efforts to ensure that they are at the very least reasonable.. i also became willing to debate people.

Just focus on the Bible and all it's many mistakes contradictions and prophecies that didn't come true. You have to pull the rug out from underneath them. With out the Bible their just exposed and naked. But again this may only work if their open minded. If not then your wasting your time. Many people will just close down because they have to much to loose if your right and their wrong. Friends, family, jobs, paradise, living forever, never getting old, etc etc.

Hacking computer voting devises, they have been doing that since Bush jr first election. Why would anyone be surprised that's why computers were put there in the first place.

Oh and here is a simple thought , god shows up and starts showing compassion for people, gives them food to eat and water to drink. He simply takes the time to heal the sick and "oh my", millions I'm mean billions of people all over the world would flock to him in reverence. They would gladly worship and praise him too. Could you imagine. It would be like the last superman movie or the latest wonder woman flick when she helps some people.

The world problems would be solved and god would get what he wants people to love and appreciate him and all he has to do is, something good for mankind. Wow what a simple idea!!

God of the Old Testament

to those on these forums who are christian and or to those who believe in the god of the old testament; how does one overcome many of the questionable actions god took or allowed to happen in the old testament?.

many if not most of us have heard of criticisms of the god of the old testament.

you can find these criticisms on many websites.. how do you explain to an honest hearted person why god acted the way they did?.

After one really reads all the stuff in the Old Testament that god of these writtings allowed or did himself, its no wonder that so many people around the world are becoming non religious. Someone else said this but man has moved beyond the morality of this god and therefore no longer needs him.

Is there any evidence that the WTS stated the 20th century would be the last?

i know that other early dates are well documented leading up to 1975. it did seemed that the wts learned to stop setting dates, but i seem to recall talk about the 20th century will certainly be the last according to god's perfect timing.

i can't recall specifically where i heard such blatant rhetoric though.. anyone?

How do you feel when people quote an inspirational or lovely passage from the bible?

a thought occurred to us today about how christians, including witnesses love to quote some lovely passage of the bible as proof of god's love, or the value of the bible.. but just because a small passage or sentence is quoted doesn't mean the whole book is to be valued.. for instance, there may be a nice sentence or comment expressed in the passage of mein kampf, but would that make the book or it's author worthy of quoting or following?

the entire book and its message needs to taken into consideration!

(obviously that author had genocidal tendencies and disturbing ideas).

Yeah I just think about some of the passages where he kills children, create evil, slaughters his only son, and then remember that the people living in the areas in and around Israel were child sacrificing freaks and the Romans had to put an end to it!

Last of the big conventions?

had lunch with some friends during today's waste of time convention.

they spoke of the rumor floating around that the jws will move away from these big regional conventions and have them at assembly halls and tie them in to kingdom halls.. they seemed to believe it was a pretty reliable source.. i think it would be too good to be true but who knows?.

anyone else heard this rumor?.

Can't confirm, but it only makes sense. As they get smaller they'll have to move away from big assemblies. Plus going smaller they can probably make more money. At the circuit level they can tell the people what to donate, they haven't been so specific at the larger DC's.
