Why did Jesus not use God’s name Jehovah?
by venus inno one doubts jesus extensively spoke about god’s kingdom because he said: “i must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of god to the other towns also, because that is why i was sent.” (luke 4:43) yet christian sects are divided over the subject whether jesus used god’s name or not.. it is said that god’s name jehovah was revealed to moses.
however jesus knew moses was not trustworthy.
(mathew 19:8) moses born and brought up in egypt could have been influenced by egyptian knowledge.

I think there's no way to tell any of it. For instance early bible text mention a god with the title El , most people thought it just a title until the early 20th century when they found a Syrian god named El. Many similarities between the god of the Bible and this god but later it becomes obvious that some of the Bible writings indicate Baal takes on the powers and attributes of this god and so does the Bible god. But wait the Hebrew bible writtings are a mess because there clear evidence that stories like that of Noah's flood and even the creation of the earth and man or influence by Sumerian writtings. Proverbs by Egyptian writings and Job Assyrian. Other writtings are influenced from writings found at Ugarit and still again in some of the minor prophet writtings one can see clues to Egyptian gods again. Let's also not forget Babylonian gods Enki , Enlil and Marduk .
So now who is this god that's supposed to be Jesus father out of all thIs mess of writings an Egyptian moon god that later gets ubsorbed by Osiris? Amen ? Since Jesus is referred to as the great Amen in Revelations? Is it still El or Baal or Marduk? Or is it a new god that obsorbed the older ones that some say is a god called Yah? We didn't even touch on the Greek or Persian influences.
I think the reason Jesus father is never mentioned in the New Testament is because it's anyone's guess of who it could be and the Christians were pushing a newly named god this guy jesus who he himself was a copy of some of the older gods. This new guY was to be for all the nations so we can't be to specific on who his father is because it may favor one nation or group over the others.

The most successful teaching of Jehovah's Witnesses and an amazing new book on the divine name
by slimboyfat injehovah's witnesses have had to revise their chronology and various doctrinal interpretations due to events and scholarly corrections.
but the one teaching where they have been consistently ahead of the curve is the importance of jehovah's name.. .
i'm going to run through a (necessarily selective) timeline of jw events and scholarly publications that demonstrate the phenomenal success of this teaching in the last days.

Documentary "The Dark Truth of Religion" - Does modern Christianity have ancient Egyptian roots?
by 4thgen inrecently we watched a documentary entitled: "the dark truth of religion".
from the quality of the video, it appeared to be made several decades ago.
it reminded me of a type of movie that they would show in a college class about the history of world religions.

I have been researching ancient religions of the Levant for about 5 years now and I will tell you with extreme confidence that the majority of Christian beliefs come from Egypt. Older Judaism is more a mix of Egyptian,Babylonian, Zoroastism , and northern Syria.
We have to remember the Hebrew Scriptures were just collected writings and were never intended to be Jewish dogma or doctrine till much later.
Getting back to Christianity, there's evidence that there were already mystery temples round the Roman Empire of the worship of Serapis a Osiris, Greek highbread god, before the invention of Jesus. All one has to do is read the book of the dead and other writtings from Egypt as well as look at the walls of the temples etc and you'll see the similarities. There's even at least two virgin birth illustrations of a son of god on the walls in side the temple complex at Luxor.
Dont let the controversy over whether or not Horus is Jesus stump you with your research. The truth is it's more about the Osiris cult then Horus. Osiris is resurrected as his son Horus just one clue. But to go on you'll find on the walls of temples depictions of circumcision, anointing, baptizing, etc.
And let's not forget the most important part of both religions , when one dies he or she is judged on their heart condition and if they are sinful their heart is eaten and their body is cast off into the lake of fire but if their heart is pure they rejoin their body with their spirit and move on to paradise called the "Field of reads" to be reunited with family and friends to live forever. And if they happen to be a son of god a pharaoh they get to go to heaven and by with the gods.

My Boyfriend is a recent Ex Jehovah Witness
by whatisthis12 ini have been dating my boyfriend for almost a year now.

I would agree with everyone that stated you need to find out if he still believes the religion. If he does run run as fast as you can , your life will be a misery. If he says he doesn't ask why and make sure he convinced. If he's kinda doesn't believe but isn't completely convinced better to get him to come to a place like this forum or the one over at Reddit.

Watchtower Internet Presence Spells Doom For the Cult With Every Passing Year.
by Brokeback Watchtower inthink of it : the internet as a source of information and exposing to human kind many alternative interpretations of literature content spells doom for watchtower bull shit as all countries raise their intelligence to what is right and wrong and what is self serving and biased by religious indoctrination, such consciousness will become so common place that religious bull shit will not be very tolerated by the masses as we proceed forward.
it is just a matter of excellorateded of information available to the mean average users.

Another example of the smothering and high control nature of JW husbands
by stuckinarut2 ini have noticed another popular pattern of behaviour amongst witnesses in recent years.. many, and i mean lots of ones with instagram accounts have closed the wife's account, and have started a "couple's" account instead.
also, for families.
the children's accounts have been closed, and the husband starts a "family account".. it is mainly on the husband's device, and seemingly under his control.

Yeah well I should of used my headship card and stopped the elders from talking to my wife when I started waking up. Maybe then I could of been physically in but mentally out and doing a better job of waking up my family. Instead I was a nice guy got kicked to the curb by the wife so to speak and now feel like an outcast while the wife and family are all active JWs.
Some times one should use their stupid rules to your advantage.

over the past few days i can honestly say the convention was relatively quite good.
most of the talks, videos, symposiums were in line with scripture if you have faith in the bible.

Since the Bible was put together with fragments of writings all around the Levant I would say one can not get a good bible. Even the Bible says the original documents were destroyed. With that said you need access to several in order to compare and try to reach a conclusion. In the end the Bible is so much of a fraud there's really know way to come to any decent conclusion. You would better off finding the original writings the Bible stole its writings from, like the Emu Elish, sayings of Amenope, writings from Ugarit etc.
