When did "The Last Days" of JW Organization Begin? Will This Generation See It End?

a growing discourse on this forum has been around what "the end" means.

as jws, many here spent varying proportions of our lives waiting for the end when an unsettling realization was that the end that approaches is more likely to be from old age than the world's end.

through the centuries, group after group, has claimed it has "inside" information on the end of the world, drawing in the desperate-for-comfort like moths to flames.

Yeah again 1995 , the year book showed a great exodus after of about 250k or more per year . I think the Y2K scare and the year 2000 scared some into staying. I think the economy crash of 2008-2009 and all the problems JWs had showed many more that the big J is no where to be found when you need help.

The last couple of times I went to the hall I noticed so many WT not studied I was surprised. Now with Kevin and others filming the inside of KHs during meetings and seeing how few are going it’s good news that this cult may end before I’m dead.

True or False did the Watchtower Corporation create false doctrines intentionally to enhance the proliferation of their own publications ?

much as been revealed over the years to the date setting doctrines made by the wts.

such as ( 1874, 1914, 1925 , 1975 this generation, the last days, the end times etc.... which were not created by other christian based faiths.. as to critically examine why might reveal a hidden agenda to all these date setting proclamations.. the point in question is did the wts and its leaders intentionally manipulate or exploit the preaching of the gospel to enhance the proliferation of their own printed publications ?.

i would say convincingly yes, no question.

I think your over thinking it. Russell stated the end was going to come in 1914 . Rutherford pickup the religion but then said the end was going to happen just a few years after 1914. . When that didn’t happen he had to reinvent the cult so they ditched pyramidology and many of the things Russell taught. Many of the things Rutherford said never happen same as the ideas of Knorr and Franz. Bottom line is when you think a book that’s based on mythology is real and everything in it really happen then your going to fail time and time again on your beliefs about things to come.

this morning i got a call from a friend of mine who i was actually roommates with at bethel in the 1990’s.

he left that organization about 3 years ago.

he was crushed because it was the 10 year anniversary (for lack of a better term) of the day that his brother took his life after being disfellowshipped many moons ago and not being reinstated.

In what decade was it clearly apparent that Watchtower was a high control religion?

i'm just curious to get people's views on this.. the bible students seem to start of as quite a liberal group under charles taze russell, albeit he had some whacky teachings going on.

obviously things began to change under rutherford.

but what decade did it become abundantly clear that the society was indeed high control religion or even labeled a cult?.

1980s is when they became an official cult in my opinion. Franz and others in the writting department started showing them flaws in their teachings and they freaked out . The scandal made them change several rules including how and who to shun. Before this you could talk to those that left and just resigned. People in the halls would even speak up during let say a Watchtower study if the conductor said some thing they felt did go with the Bible. Now all you can did is nod your head yes.

If there was a resurrection in paradise

something that bothered me even when i was a watchtower company drone was the thought of dying and being resurrected in paradise.

would the resurrected person really be me or just a copy of me?

if god could recreate one of me, he could also recreate five of me.

Well here’s is the problem JWs stopped doing what the Egyptians did which was mummify their dead. With out this very important step , not having a body, the JWs are doomed to roam about in spirit form only on the earth, provided their judged worthy. Otherwise their heart is going to be eaten and they’ll be cast off in to the lake of fire, the second death.

What the last two woman said during the video may move others to leave. More and more people are getting aggressive and whether you agree or not this kind of activism gives the problems in the cult a voice and I think helps to make ones in the cult realize what their going through is not an isolated incident.

When I was a young man a 18 old girl I knew was raped then dfd for it. I thought this was just a crazy case of 3 elders just being insane so I stayed in the cult. If I would of known that this is a common practice I would of left over 20 years ago and my kids would not have been raised in this evil cult.
