  Memorial Question

  hi guys.

  my husband is a jw and i have a question because yesterday was the memorial.

  i was wondering how they pick the date for the memorial because, even though religious groups are celebrating today as easter, next sunday is actually the anniversary date of the resurrection according to the jewish calendar?

  I century Jewish tradition based on a lunar calendar. Ok so several decades before jesus was born Julius Caesar adopted the Egyptian solar calendar and called it the Julian calendar. The Egyptians were using this calendar for well over a thousand years and we’re the authority over the area where the Jews lived until Assyria then Babylin pushed them out.

  So one can summize that maybe the Jews didn’t have a lunar calendar until after they went to Babylon and then were to change before jesus showed up to the Julian calendar. Anyway you slice it jesus the son of god died for mankind’s sins and no one knows the exact date . They instead have to use a older less accurate lunar calendar. I call bull Shiite, it’s all Astro theology related.

  This guy needs to put together a simple message that jws may understand and stick to it! They don’t know what the two witness rule is just say they covering up pedophile. Then don’t change the subject to black mass etc.... Keep it shot sweet and stay on point.

  so i posted yesterday.

  my boyfriend and i have been living together for a year, and he went to the memorial tonight (sorry if that’s not what it’s called).

  i told him i was upset he didn’t invite me but wasn’t going to tell him not to go because he hasn’t talked to his family for over a year.

  He doesn’t pay rent and now is wanting to get back with his family all part of a cult. He also is telling you to stay home so he can go be with them and he doesn’t have to bring you up. Ok so here’s the reality of the situation he’s a cult member. Even though he may have left he’s still a brainwashed believer.

  You need to ask yourself if you still want to be with him because he’s probably going to go back and kick you to the kurb so he doesn’t get into anymore trouble. If he does stay with you and you don’t become a JW he and all his friends will treat you like a second class citizen. Do you want that.

  Cults are evil and JW are one of the worst!

  I got back from the memorial . . .

  it was pretty mundane for the most part, same songs, same outline.

  the only new thing they added was the video at the end, where stephen lett speaks to the visitors and commends them for coming and recommends they go to jwdotorg and also start a bible study.

  they also showed a bar graph with figures increasing every year for jws, memorial attendance and memorial partakers.

  if it were not for the fact that my sister posted this year's memorial invitation on her facebook page yesterday i would have no idea it was today (note: i live a quarter mile from the local kingdom hall.

  still no invite).

  i faded well over a decade ago, but was not mentally out until i attended my last memorial in 2010. attending the memorial actually helped me leave.. yesterday i started analyzing the event that jehovah's witnesses tout as the most important day of the year.

  John says that Jesus said that if one wants eternal life you must eat my flesh and drink my blood. According to john Jesus never said there would be a provision for those that don’t dont do this to have eternal life.

  But the other problem is that john is contradicting himself for he writes in both chapters 3 and 6 that Jesus said all one has to do is believe in him and have eternal life. You don’t have to eat his flesh drink his blood go out in service give money to a bunch of freaks in New York, none of it!

  The JWs explanation it reminds me of their explanation about where the great crowd is and comparing it to what’s said at Revelations chapter 7. Chapter 7 clearly states the great crowd is in heaven and the 144,000 are still on earth waiting to be sealed. The JWs have to jump through hoops and lie about the meaning of a Greek word to make thier point.

  What their doing very effectively is telling their slaves not to associate with inactive ones and to treat them as if they are sinning aginst god somehow. Mind control cults all do this and shun former cult members.
