so i saw on instagram from one of the major uber elders from everett wa posted a picture of where he was staying for the week long safety training the ldc was putting on.
well this "suite" had a full bar for one thing and everything else was quite fancy!
he was complaining about losing $$ for a week since he had to go to this training but the accommodations were wonderful.

just curious how we all think.. what prompted or influenced your choice of username for this forum?.
there are some really amazing names, and it would be great to hear the stories behind them.... mine was nothing fancy.
i just felt "stuck in a rut too" along with so many others.
I am still in but mentally out, serving as a very prominent elder with a lot of responsibility outside the congregation. I end up being a COMMITTEECHAIRMAN many times, which in judicial situations I use to make sure people don't get disfellowshipped.
The Avatar is a picture of the actor Del Moore as Dr. Mortimer S. Warfield in the movie The Nutty Professor from the 1960's. I just think the picture is funny because it looks like every elder that takes himself so seriously and is basically ruining everyone else's life.

The LDC arrangement is broken, primarily because of inflexibility in who is allowed to participate. Previously, those that were available nights or weekends could assist and they did not have to be "exemplary", just in good standing. Now to work on LDC projects (especially in any kind of oversight) you must be available form 7 to 5 Tuesday through Saturday. This means that only those who don't work secularly during the day can participate. Additionally, only construction tradesmen who work in the field secularly are used. You can see how as I go through the requirements, more and more people fall out of eligibility. The net effect is that there are relatively few who qualify and are available. This is a huge rate-limiter for all projects.
Additionally, I still believe that the Governing Body either does not have the funds or does not want to use the funds to build new Kingdom Halls. This is why new builds are rare and most projects are remodels. This is a also a major rate-limiter for the LDC to operate properly.

says it all really.
total hypocrisy once again..
Sparky1, I completely agree with you.
I remember a time where really the only person you knew besides the elders in your congregation was your circuit overseer. The Governing Body was largely unknown. Although there are no credits on any of the written materials we use, isn't it the same thing when we have these guys on the JW Broadcast with their name up on the screen? I really prefer the time when brothers with heavy responsibility were relatively unknown and their work was all carried out discreetly.

you could fertilize your garden with this shite.... https://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/faq/respond-to-accusations/.
Once, just once in what's left of my life, I would like to see the Governing Body humbly and honestly admit that they were wrong and that something needs to be fixed. Also, I'd like to see them acknowledge harm that was caused and apologize for it: try to make it right.
There is precedent for this. If you look at Nehemiah 9:33-38, the nation's leaders acknowledged serious wrongdoing and acted to correct it.
For instance, instead of saying that "it was always our policy to report child abuse" etc, etc. Why not just say that the policy for many years was to require two eyewitnesses to the same abuse event leaving many child abusers unsanctioned? Why not just say that the practice for many years was to fight reporting anything to the authorities? Why not apologize to all those harmed and humbly beg them for forgiveness and explain the measures now in place to prevent this kind of madness from happening again?
I know the answers. The attorneys prevent it for liability reasons. And (in my opinion) I think the Governing Body is afraid that if they admit they were wrong that somehow they will lose the respect of the rank and file. I've found just the opposite to be the case. When in leadership and I make a huge mistake, if I admit it in front of everyone and do all I can to make it right, it has the effect of strengthening respect people have for me.

ok, so i've just put myself through another months broadcast so i can see what bull they're feeding my still in relatives.
all was going fine... well, i say fine, i mean the usual cheesy videos, rehearsed reactions from jeffrey jackson (you remember him, the one who told half truths and lies at the royal commission) and propaganda from jw land.. the last feature brings up 9/11 and the paris 2015 attack at the bataclan.
just as im thinking "how are they gonna spin this in their direction" i hear these words:.
Seems clear that Jesus would have approached this a different way. He benefited all people regardless of where they were in life. They didn't have to be his followers for him to show kindness and care. His kindness wasn't just sharing a scripture either. Look at all the folks he healed, many of which did not follow him afterwards.

short info on interesting changes to the major conventions this year: there will be a new security concept that will be implemented at all regional conventions in 2017.. similar to other major events (e.g.
festivals, concerts), there will be admittance controls in stadiums.. - at each entrance, there will be a massive presence of attendants that look at each visitor.. - there will be pocket checks at the entrance.. - suspicious persons are no longer left on the convention grounds.. - suppliers to the stadium will be intensively inspected by attendants.. - there will be a special sign for attendants that must enter the stadium before 7.30 am.
all others (even all attendants) can only enter after 7.30 am..
Two things. One, there is definitely a ramp up of attendant count and presence at conventions for 2017. This is part of the branch office direction for conventions. Second, whether actual searches take place is dependent on the contract for the venue. Some venues require these searches, and whether they are conducted by the attendants or venue security is entirely a function of what is agreed on with the venue in the contract.
EDIT: Most US venues will not have bag or other searches going on. Only where the venue actually requires it.

i think the disfellowshipping abandonement arrangement in human relationships also to be a heavy contributor to this malady:.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/borderline_personality_disorder.
borderline personality disorder (bpd), also known as emotionally unstable personality disorder, is a long-term pattern of abnormal behavior characterized by unstable relationships with other people, unstable sense of self, and unstable emotions.
Yes. Yes, it does. I've seen it firsthand.

I'm not aware of a policy letter on this. The last time I saw this attempted was in the early 90s and it was a disaster. Congregations and circuits took some years to recover. All of a sudden 60% of a congregation changed with a totally new body of elders. It was nuts.
I doubt they'll try that again but who knows?

a girl i've known my entire life who supported me from a distance after i was disfellowshipped sent me this message on instagram today: .
let me know when your back... i'm unfollowing you on ig & snap.
i love you.
It's the convention this year. Heavy, heavy content about absolutely cutting off DFed ones, even by parents and very close relatives. Almost reverses the 1980 position about "necessary business" with family. I would not be surprised to see major revisions to policy to elders about relatives and DFed family members, after which I predict something of a witch hunt about it. They are super serious this time. It is more grasping at straws as they are desperate to determine why there is a decline in the organization. I think the pornography move to make it a DFing offense was the first move in that strategy. The line of thought is "there must be massive wrongdoing in the organization and Jehovah's spirit is being removed" so they go after it.
Pathetic, really.
