"Pacman Jones was NEVER charged with a crime"... What planet have you been living on? Thank you, miseryloveselders for posting Pacman's long list of criminal offenses for which he was indeed charged.

Do you think Roethlesberger would be suspended if he was black?
by UnConfused inhttp://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-goodell-roethlisberger&prov=ap&type=lgns.
pacman jones was never charged with a crime, yet was suspended for a year and then more i believe.
i'm not defending the actions of jones, but based on those standards big ben has now been accused twice of sexual assult.

Is Atheism a 'Personal Rebellion' Against God?
by leavingwt ini try to understand why other people believe what they believe.
the author discussed in the article below evidently wants to hide his head in the sand and paint all atheists with the same broad, incorrect brush.
it's as if he's never actually sat down with an atheist and had friendly conversation.. .

"The rejection of God is a matter of will, not of intellect," he asserts.
Many people reject the existence of God precisely because of intellect; religion and/or belief in a God as revealed in the Bible is simply not intellectually satisfying to them.

Unchanging TRUTH changes from 1939--thru--2000
by Terry inhere is a strange premise.
god speaks through you, but, you make errors.
when your errors are pointed out it means you have been blessed!.

The WTS includes the teaching of 1914 being the beginning of the Time of The End as one of their core teachings. Yet, look at all the changes in regard to 1914. Yet, they assert that such changes are "minor".

Dinosaurs

Yes, the earlier edition NWT did have a dino in Africa on the inside cover. I was (still am) fascinated with dinosaurs and that little dino actually got me through more than a few boring meetings, as I contemplated dinos instead of whatever was being (re)hashed from the platform.

Dramatic posters on the board...
by tresdecu init cracks me up when i read a really dramatic "good bye to jwn" or "im outta here" threads only to see them posting a few days later.
what is the point?
if you want to stop posting for a while, then stop posting........and then if you want to start again, go for it.. are you just trying to get attention?.

It's happened from the time this (and other) boards came into existence. Some people, for various reasons, prefer to announce their departure, usually airing some grievance in the process. Personally, I pay no mind to it.
One of the funniest replies I've seen to such an announcement was "see you tomorrow". I can't remember which thread (it was years ago), but that reply struck me as quite funny. And it's true - it often seems they come back anyway.

"When armageddon happens, I want to be able to SEE the people dying"
by jambon1 insaid to myself & others by a jw elder.. i always recall this as a sort of .
when this elder was pressed on the matter, he replied that it was because of all the years of laughing & sneering & mocking that he had put up with, quoting the scripture that goes along the lines of 'where is this promised presence of his'.. i realise now that this person is not loving.
and yet, i would hear similar sentiments from others such as 'just wait until the end' or 'i wonder if they'll be saying that when jesus comes with his big sword'.. even as a jw pioneer, the thought of such a thing happening to people repulsed me.

I've discussed what happened on Sept 11 2001 with some jws. I asked them: 'how did you feel when you saw 3,000 of your fellow US citizens die like that? Now imagine billions of people dying in a similar manner - buildings crumbling and so forth. Is that really what you want to see? Do you really understand what you are hoping and praying for?'
As pointed out above by the poster who nicely quoted Amos 5:18, do they really realize what they're asking for?

Were You "Afraid" Of The Elders?
by minimus indid you view them as men who truly cared about you?.
did your heart sink in fear when an elder came to talk to you?.
were the elders nothing special to you?.
-

I feared them to some degree and bent over backwards to please them - until I became one. Then I saw their foibles first-hand. I also knew that I was nothing to fear. Hence, that fear disappeared.

Response to the Argument that Jehovah's Witnesses are not Cult Members
by bluecanary inthis is in response to the ezine article the argument that jehovah's witnesses are not cult members:.
this article is dangerously misinformed about (a) what constitutes a cult and (b) that the jws do in fact fit this category.
there is ample evidence of mind control, manipulation and cult tactics in this group, but you will not see it by casually chatting with a witness.

Besides a couple of spelling and usage errors, a pretty good letter.
That said, I seriously doubt it will be read, except perhaps to determine who you are and whether a visit to your home can be arranged.
