I've been out a nearly a decade, but one thing I haven't done is start using foul language. I do think the occasional 'f-bomb' is funny, when properly placed (not used every-other-word). I've just decided not to curse. Interestingly, a female relative of mine who is a staunch jw uses foul language, and I heard plenty of it when I played sports with jw men back in the day.

Interesting thread...
Let's face it: when it comes to maintaining friendships, many humans, both jws and non-jws, are of the out-of-sight, out-of-mind variety. If someone is not brought in front of us on a regular basis whether via the meetings, work, or whatever, we often tend to lose touch. It's the nature of human friendships, because effort is required to maintain the friendship when those people/that person is no longer right in front of us.
The OP worked hard to cultivate friendships. But it seems as though you made all the effort. It was easy for others to be your friends - just come over as invited, eat your food, hang at your house. Easy. Once you moved from the congregation, it was no longer easy for them. They certainly are not inclined to make the effort to contact you. It looks like you put forth most of the effort to begin with; it's not surprising that now they seemingly have no memory (at least in their actions) of all the things you did for them.

To All Elders/MS's/ Publishers Who Come Here
by metatron inin the past, you were told that you have the opportunity to prove the devil a liar.
this is a nonsensical claim, given that about 2000 years of martyrdom by christians has already passed.
there's nothing left to prove or disprove.. however, you have the opportunity to prove that the watchtower society is lying: that their organization is unclean and overrun with corruption - as proven by an endless stream of elders/ms's and publishers who come here, wishing that they could leave.. you also have the opportunity to prove that their published statistics are false - by reporting fake hours and placements.. if they don't like it, too bad.

A few Dawkins quotes to think about.
by AK - Jeff in"faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence.
faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence.".
"my last vestige of "hands off religion" respect disappeared in the smoke and choking dust of september 11th 2001, followed by the "national day of prayer," when prelates and pastors did their tremulous martin luther king impersonations and urged people of mutually incompatible faiths to hold hands, united in homage to the very force that caused the problem in the first place.".

"In a universe of electrons and selfish genes, blind physical forces and genetic replication, some people are going to get hurt, other people are going to get lucky, and you won't find any rhyme or reason in it, nor any justice. The universe that we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but pitiless indifference"
This portion of the quote especially does it for me.
I was watching the news last night, about the tornado that devastated Joplin, Mo. One guy who survived said he did so because of his "faith in God". So while others around him perished, he credited his faith.
But did this man display more faith than his less fortunate neighbors? Seriously, such a comment is as deluded as they come. As Dawkins said, this was clearly as case of randomness, with no rhyme, reason, or justice. It was simply nature at its most brutal.

I've Decided That It'll Be Best For Me To Return To The Kingdom Hall.
by Philadelphia Ponos inafter carefully evaluating the my current life situation, i've come to the conclusion that returning to the hall will be best for me.
i simply just don't fit in with the rest of the world.
i don't drink, smoke, have sex, go to clubs, listen to worldly music, watch movies, or gamble.

You're thinking of buying a gun and using it? You've got more problems than the Kingdom Hall can solve, bud.

Sunday Drama-"Young Ones-Be Discreet and Wise"
by CaptainSchmideo ini briefly touched on the drama in another post, but i felt i needed to share in greater detail this latest masterpiece.. .
this was the drama on sunday.
the story alternates between the story of joseph, son of jacob, and a witness kid (forgot his name;billy?

Great description. The actual drama is so contrived as to be ridiculously laughable (as most dramas are), but your description is not only funny but adds some realism to it.
I seriously doubt the drama's premise that some hot slutty chick at school would ever want to seduce a jw. The jw would have to be very handsome, and that's just for starters. Jw boys are usually viewed as losers, not as slightly nerdy potential studs.

Camping ''bewildered'' and ''mystyfied'', but check who is taking blame...
by Aussie Oz inhttp://www.670kboi.com/rssitem.asp?feedid=118&itemid=29671679.
new york) -- harold camping is "mystified" and "a little bewildered" that the rapture did not go as he predicted, an associate of the california preacher told abc news.. .
tom evans, a board member of camping's family radio international, said that camping's wife told him her husband is at their home in oakland and has no intention to speak or issue any statement on sunday or monday.. .

This whole Camping thing could hurt the jw effort to recruit new members. This thing was given such wide publicity and its failure now draws attention to all such Doomsday predictions. Individual jws may chuckle, but this thing could really hinder their efforts.

Men are Adorable!
by Robdar inthis afternoon i had the pleasure of listening to my dad, husband and son discuss timing belts, the teeth they rest on, camshafts, and other car parts that i cant recall at such a late hour.
they were totally engrossed in the conversation and it was fun listening to them talk.
the air was thick with testosterone and they were so manly that i just had to smile about it.

Robdar, what you wrote confirms what I've often felt - that whether we want to admit it or not, women need men and men need women. And I'll add that most women need the men in their lives to be men. That doesn't necessarily mean they need to be mechanically inclined, but I think they need men to act like men. On the man's part, that means, mainly, being responsible and reasonably attentive. I say "reasonably" attentive because some men, like myself, are just naturally distracted by other things. Sometimes we're not always in tune to a woman's thinking. But that doesn't mean we don't care - nor does it excuse us from making an effort.
