Trademark office rejects Watchtower's application for "JW.Org" logo
by AndDontCallMeShirley inhttp://tsdr.uspto.gov/#casenumber=85896124&casetype=serial_no&searchtype=statussearch.
even though watchtower's application has been rejected, they will be allowed to use the logo because it is for religious usage and will not be confused with commercial products.. the trademark office did note this:.
indeed, numerous other marks are registered reflecting the letters j and w:.

Yes, the Janitor's World is definitely appropriate.
I also noticed that the charter description mentions "scientific". I'd hate to think that their litertaure is scientific.

Richard Dawkins defends mild pedophilia, says it does not cause lasting harm

Simon says:" The problem with that argument is that there are clearly degrees of both slavery and racism.
A lynchmob and someone clutching their purse more tightly when a member of another race approaches are both manifestations of racism.
I would suggest that one is a more "mild" form and one is not."
I said it was a slippery slope (clearly an over-used expression, which makes me wonder why I used it). By claiming that there are mild forms of something bad or wrong, yes, different degree is implied.
But we are talking about pedophilia. And I used racism and slavery as examples because they, like pedophilia, are unacceptable in ANY form.
To the less religiously inclined - This is all about your boy Mr Dawkins, and so all of a sudden we're drawing fine lines. I'll say it again - if the Watchtower published an article and categorized a form of pedophilia as "mild" you'd all be blowing a gasket - NO ONE would be defending the Watchtower. And if some JW apolgist were to try to draw the same fine line, you'd all be jumping all over him/her.
Dawkins' statement in no way affects his scientific credentials, or evolution theory, for that matter, so what are you so worried about?

if the term "mild pedophilia" appeared in JW publication, you'd all be screaming.
To me, part of the problem is that Dawkins catagorizes pedophilia and says that there is a "mild" form. I think that is part of what is getting some people upset. Creating degrees of something like pedophilia is a slippery slope, just as creating degrees of slavery and racism.
Also, I think we do judge actions in the past by our standards today. Don't we strongly condemn the slavery of Africans that occured here centuries ago? We don't try to explain it away by saying that the standards of that time were different, do we? No, we roundly condemn it based on our sensibilities and standards.

A supremely confident and sure woman is so sexy...
by Comatose ini have always been attracted to very confident and self-assured women.
so sexy.
example - a girl who may not look like a skinny stick model at the beach in a bikini and rocking it.

I don't go for those qualities. If they are confident and self-assured, they might not be inclined to be submissive, and I might not be able to dominate them in true JW fashion. They could even challenge my role as family head.

Serena Williams, has she peaked at 32
by designs inserena got her earliest exit at wimbeldon.
still ranked #1.. for athletes at this level of play are the 30s where the wear and tear start showing.
seems with the french open and now wimbeldon there are a new young crop of top athletes beating the seasoned pros.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsox35ca1so.

I'll comment only on the Tennis aspect:
There is a clear changing of the guard going on in women's tennis. But I would not count Serena out of any tournament, even though she's made three early Grand Slam exits this year.
That said, Eugenie Bouchard and Simona Halep bear watching. The women's game, right now, is as wide open as it's been in a long time.
There are also some signs, milder but signs nonetheless, that the Big Four's (Nadal, DJokovic, Federer, Murray) grip on the men's game might finally be eroding. But that will take time, especially as long as DJokovic and Nadal are around.

Rules on blood also apply to our pets
by Splash inwhile researching something else, i came across these two comments from a wt on how we should view the blood issue, when it comes to our pets.. *** w64 2/15 p. 127 questions from readers ***.
"would it be a violation of the scriptures for a christian to permit a veterinarian to give blood transfusions to a pet?
by all means, to do so would be a violation of the scriptures.".

Part of the problem is that there is no thread preview feature.
This is especially a problem around April 1st of every year, for obvious reasons.
