i really would like to know why such ones post on a anti-jw site.
is it for recognition?
to match wits with "apostates"?
Frankly, I don't mind jw supporters posting here for a few reasons:
It means that there are some on the "inside" who are willing to look beyond the WTS walls and check out a site like this.
It means that such people may be helped to leave if that's what they wish to do.
It helps many of us, I think, to see the pros and cons discussed (argued), so that we can evaluate such arguments and the logic and fact presented.
once again, my wife left some of her wt literature within easy reach of yours truly, ostensibly in the hope that i'll pick it up and reappraise.
it's bookmarked with the current week's study material; anf frankly, if anything can reinforce my inclination to stay away, it's this drivel.
does it not dawn on any of these that all this hallucinogenic blather about 1918, 1919, 1922, etc.
The Indian woman at the bottom left does indeed look like she's forcing that 'smile'. I've seen amny pics over the years in the publications in which the subjects don't look happy, or at least they don't smile like they mean it.
i have been inactive for quite a while since i started to do research on the society.
the elders knew about this and even encouraged it, until i started to ask the wrong type of questions, mostly of the kind: "can you provide verifyable evidence for that?".
anyway, they wanted to meet to discuss my current position towards the religion and towards the bible.
I agree with the posters who said that you cannot win an argument vs. the elders, because in their own eyes, they and the WTS are always right.
Amazing, isn't it? - this whole thing is like the Inquistion. You can't be honest for fear of reprisal. Friggn' unreal and yet so true.

i am fairly new to this board, but have been lurking for awhile before i decided to become a registered member.
i have read many posts old and new and can't help but wonder why many of you just don't let it go?
some of you have expressed bitterness and disgust over what the wts has done to you.
I'd love to let it go. But when you have elders calling at your door (5 times now in the past three months), a family member who occasionally asks you whether you still attend (I do, just Sunday talks every now and then), you kind of find it hard to let go, because others just won't let you.

i have a question though: we talk about jws being indoctrinated and brainwashed etc., but where does it originate?

Blacksheep, I am actually thinking of staying home. After attending over 30 Memorials, and feeling like a person who attends a wedding in which the groom is invisible and the bride doesn't show up, I'm thinking of not going. What's the real meaning of it for those who don't partake anyway?

i have a question: i am happily faded but i recently got the desire to talk to an elder of my old congregation.
the problem is that he doesn't know i am faded (i kinda disappeared from jw archives while moving to college), and that i do not want to get into trouble by this.
Some of the stories that I am reading as this thread progesses are very interesting. Swan, I am amazed that your family was so flexible, and that's good to see.
