When people target other people for ridicule and discrimination based on their sexual preference (or based on anything for that matter) that bothers me to no end.

Are JWs The Only Ones Who Will Be Saved?
by artful in' you will usually get the following safe response:.
"it's not for us to judge who will be saved.
jehovah reads hearts and he will decide who is worthy of salvation.".

Like Blondie mentioned, when you really get down to it, it's only the most active dubs that they believe will be saved.

How BIG was YOUR JW book-bag?
by Scully inwhen i was replying to nicolas' question in another thread, i used the following scripture to show why jws are always so tired:"the scribes and the pharisees have seated themselves in the seat of moses.
therefore all the things they tell you, do and observe, but do not do according to their deeds, for they say but do not perform.
they bind up heavy loads and put them upon the shoulders of men, but they themselves are not willing to budge them with their finger.

I was cong. sec. for a while, and bought a bigger case to carry all the papers. I hated it and shelved it for my smaller briefcase. In service, I tried going as lean as possible - not always possible, especially during book offer campains.

Misogyny----anyone here guilty?
by Tatiana inafter reading the post on how to "treat your husband," i'd like to know if any men here actually feel this way about women.
everyone jokes around about male/female relationships, but how many really think women are inferior?
i know from some serious posts i've read here, that a few of the men must have really been hurt by someone.

I don't analyse it too much here at home. My wife and I are partners in a common endeavor. That's how I see it.

Do you think JW men treat women worst than 'other' men in power?
by BLISSISIGNORANCE ini ask this question because we often hear about jw men (bros., elders, servants, co's etc.
) treating sisters as lower and weaker beings than themselves.. but i wonder if it's not just a male-dominant world problem.
i didn't grow up as a jw so every male i met for 30 years was not a jw.

While it's true that the probelm of men treating women unfairly does indeed exist everywhere, there does seem to me to be a certain degree of 'empowerment', if you will, of males in dubdom which may indeed lend itself to abuses.

Looking at my face each day in the mirror.
Just kidding. My daughter is my number 1 inspiration. My face comes in a distant second. Just kidding again.

Anyone here can post anything they want...how much is true?
by berylblue inas i wrote my last post about d. h. (the jw woman who was superficially shot by her abusive non-jw husband), it occured to me that the entire story sounded fabricated.
but it got me thinking...i wonder how many of our posts here are fabricated, exaggerated or embellished?
has anyone here actually been caught in an outright lie?

I don't think we have too many "urban legends" here - unlike the world of dubdom.

Does This Board Have A "Teaching"?
by rocketman inhaving frequented this board for about two years, i've noticed over time that, in a sense, there has come to be almost a 'religion', set of beliefs, or 'teaching' that has kind of evolved here.
there seem to be certain things that the majority, in some cases even a consensus, of members here agree on.
some examples that come to mind:.

Purple V, I struggled with that one. But I have noticed comments made by many such as "so and so should have been df'd" , so I think there are some here who feel that dfing may be okay if done strictly by bible law with no shunning included. It would kind of be 'active disapproval' perhaps rather than dfing per se.
Farkel, the reason I put the word "teaching" in quotation marks is that I am using the word very cautiously, maybe for lack of a better term. Perhaps resistance to a teaching is a better way of looking at it. I am simply exploring an idea.

Are the GB Members Rich?
by sandy ini remember hearing a long time ago that "apostates" were spreading lies that the governing body members were all rich and had huge extravagant homes.
is there truth to theses stories?
if so, is there evidence?

I'd agree with posters who said that when you can live for free, travel the world on someone else's money, and have people fawn all over you, you are in a sense rich, and maybe even better than rich - you are powerful,
