We missed you at the meetings

a vomit inducing comment.. i asked why do they have to specify 'meetings'?

they never miss us in tesco or the showcase cinema bar.. in their defence, a friend of mine said: 'that's because the meeting is where they normally would see you.'.

well, if they want to see you they can arrange a meal out or something.

I've actually had this said to me, along time ago when I missed a few meetings. My thought deep inside was that you really don't miss "me", you really don't know "me" because all you know is "me" at the meetings and that's it!

You don't know me at home. You don't know me at work or at the bowling alley. You just know me at the meetings, pretty shallow!

Wannaexit - I had the same CO talk about a month ago! They take 1 scripture and twist it I tell you! They can make that into whatever they want to really. In 5 years they can something else about too! What gives!

Jailing Allen, Judge Sylvia de Bertodano told him: “I quite accept that whatever happened, she was a willing participant in it; but you took advantage of the fact that she was 20 years younger than you, and a child.

“This has effectively ruined your reputation. You are lucky your wife is standing by you, and you are a member of a church which is supportive of you as well.

“But the message has to go out that if men in their mid-30s repeatedly engage in sexual activity with under-age children, they will go to prison.”

of course, most of us realize this.

however sometimes even on this board sometimes threads have stated that the jw elders have been occasionally painted as the " fall guys " who take the rap for the wt society leaders - which of course is true - to a degree.

however- that being said , many times elders have failed to protect - or even have failed to advocate for child abuse victims when it has been within their power to do so.

I hope the Royal Commission's work in Australia makes for a precedent the world over. I know the UK is taking a good look at it now. The GB has some real issues to deal with. If they don't wake up fast, the fox will eat the chickens.

how many of us were woken up by some apostate yelling false prophets at a convention?.

how many of us were woken up by someone holding a sign and yelling, what happened to 1975.

how many of us were coerced to investigate the wt because some ex-jw pulled up a bunch of old watchtowers magazines and told us to read the false predictions?.

From all of the comments I would say that it's true what John said, "the org does more to wake people up than we do sometimes," or something like that he said. When you have tight pants Tony up there, or two-faced elders and the general hypocrisy then it's an eye-opener for people.
