I don't believe God exists, but if he were to exist, he would be the most evil and cruel being to have ever existed. The biggest asshole in the universe. -

The Modern Exodus: Perception or Reality?
by Hadriel ini'm completely new at this however just in my joining this forum and of course interacting with others i can't help but notice what appears to be a significant exodus from the organization.. for those of you that have long been in this game have you seen this before?
i'm really curious and we should refrain from the sensational, but is what we're seeing different than in years past?.
it sure seems like so so many are waking and leaving.

First of all, welcome Hadriel! Nice username choice. I think the number of JWs leaving has seen steady increase for some time now. Especially since the internet has reached the mainstream. The more people are out, the more there are to help others see the organization for the cult that it is and encourage them to leave. I think what we're seeing is a domino effect of an exponential nature. The effect will gain more momentum and accelerate over time. And let's not forget they're on a timer. The more time passes without Armageddon coming, the sillier their beliefs seem. -

Estimating future growth or decline of Watchtower
by shepherdless ini have seen a few posts here, in various guises, in relation to whether watchtower is in decline.
plenty of people respond, but it is all fairly anecdotal, or "gut feel".
some of it has been wishful thinking.. as of late 2015, watchtower's numbers suggest it is still growing marginally, but there are various anecdotes on this site of publishers typically being older, and younger ones disappearing.

I'm from Romania. Our congregation used to have around 60 members when I was a child. A decade and a half later and it barely has around 25-30 members counting the pioneers sent here from other places. The median age is somewhere between 45 and 50. I think 47 would be the best estimate. There are no JWs in my town. The neighboring towns have a total of 5 JWs. The congregation covers a 30 mile radius. -

No more reporting time for field service!!!
by Khaleesi inso at last i am in my next step of my fade, this month is the first month i did not turned in any hours.
i received a text from our group leader an ms & i told him i didn't have any to report, then of course it got bumped up to the elder & i text him back i have no hours to report for december.
i came to this decision when reading many posters here about the yearbook stats, i do not want & refused to contribute to this organization "boosting" numbers for their glorious purposes, after the rc in australia they do not deserve for me to give them a "production" report of what i do for god, no more.

That's wonderful Khaleesi. Congratulations! You are now finally starting to be free. I'm in a similar position myself. I haven't been to a meeting for about 6 months. I have refused to talk to the elders but my father keeps reporting fake time for me. For December he reported 1 hour and 3 placements for me, LOL. So, it kinda makes you wonder how many more are reporting fake hours and how real are the Yearbook statistics. Anyway, best of luck in your journey of becoming free from religious imprisonment. -

Who has more Zeal, wt or Isis?
by prologos inhttp://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-35260475 would a jw shun, treat as dead, with contempt his own mother for her attempt to have him leave the wt religion?.

Prologos, the question was about zeal. You need quite a good amount of zeal to let a loved one die because of a stupid doctrine. But, it's not always that passive. Many of these are persons actively have to sign their own life or their loved one's away. Sure, might not be as vicious as jamming a knife in their throat, but the end result is the same. These numbers were a mathematical estimation made by a worldly organization from my country, based on the number of JWs and the frequency of situations that require blood (accidents, health conditions, etc). The numbers might not be totally accurate, but the real number is certainly in the thousands (if not tens of thousands), annually. -

In my view, I think that JWs are at least as dangerous as ISIS just by judging on the basis of how many people they've killed. Some researchers believe that in the past few decades an average of 7000-16,000 JWs died every single year due to their rejection of blood transfusions. In total, I think this religion is responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths. Not as many as the million killed by Islam, but nothing to be ashamed of.
What makes JWs more dangerous than ISIS is their sheep clothing. They appear like weird but decent people. You'll welcome them in your house, listen to their teachings, get love-bombed and join, only to see your child/spouse/parent die for refusing a blood transfusion or otherwise put their life on the line because of the "truth". The fact is that JWs have a much greater potential of numbers, especially in underdeveloped countries.
They will last longer than ISIS and I can be almost certain that they will kill more people than ISIS ever will. But in terms of zeal, I don't know. The average JW definitely doesn't have much zeal and the ones at the top are mere charlatans that chase power and money. -

Ex JW's - Which Christian denomination are you with now and why?
by Truthexplorer inthis is a question for ex jw's who have joined another christian faith group.
the purpose of my question iis to find out which christian faith group you chose after leaving watchtower and what convinced you to travel this new spiritual path you are on.
i am interested to know because i personally would like to find a genuine faith group where i can feel true christian liberty as i initially thought i had with the witnesses.

I remember being at a wedding ten years ago and of course being worldly music and dancing. Some of the most pious elders and older JWs went all pious and gave everyone a hard time because of it. Now, they sing worldly songs themselves and they're not even at a wedding? WOW! Things have changed. So much hypocrisy. -

What did being a JW teach you?
by punkofnice inthese are some of the things the wbt$ 'taught' me:.
dishonesty is fine if it's to trick people into joining the cult.. if your spouse stops believeing, the best thing you can do is break up the family.. the laws of the governing body overrule any other laws...or else!.
my friends are conditional.. avoid loving people, they'll only let you down or get df'd.. unintelligent dumbos are better than intelligent ones if the dumbos are elders or above.. hate is better than love.. i am not good enough and god will probably enjoy killing me.. demons will appear in my room at night.. ignore practicallity if being practical or loving prevents the leaders getting money or praise.. god hates.

The borg has taught me to not be capable of any meaningful social interaction. It has taught me to fear people outside the borg. It has taught me that God might kill me at any moment. That god wants my mother to die when life-saving medical treatment is easily available and probably most characteristic to the borg, that love is always conditional among JWs. -

Statistics - Spreadsheets - Opinion
by berrygerry inso, spent a fair bit of time on the stats.. the 2010-2015 numbers are available here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0bwv5uvzb3-67axpzavk0m0nttfe&usp=sharing.
also there are spreadsheets of: ratios, peak-pubs, and the best is a combo of ratios, peak pubs & average pubs.. you can play with these by "select all" and "sort" according to your preference.. if you would like any other combination, i would try to create it and post it for you.. of interest:.
as has been noted, the biggest standout of 2015 is the increase of only 18k in peak pubs while having 260k baptized.

Yes, and lets not forget that many of these publishers might not really be genuine publishers. For example, I'm one of them. I haven't been in field circus since 2013, but my father keeps reporting fake hours for me every month. He hasn't been to the field in years also, but he also keeps reporting fake hours for himself. My mother is disassociated due to the blood issue.
So, in our congregation, at least two "publishers" don't actually "publish" shit but merely pretend two. I'm betting there are more. Fifteen years ago, our congregation had around 60 individuals. Now it barely has over 30 and many of those are pioneers sent here by the branch. If your remove those, as they eventually all leave, there are barely over 20 JWs in the area, some of which, like myself or my father, only pretend to be active.
Among children I grew up with, one was an unbaptized publisher but lost this "privilege" for having a worldly girlfriend. Another was baptized but hasn't been to the hall in 2 years, has long hair and a beard. A girl got herself a rocker boyfriend. Her father was just disfellowshipped. I'm widely seen as an apostate in the congregation. Especially to the elders, to whom I'm the no.1 suspect of apostasy at all times (but they've been unable to catch me so far). And this is the only congregation in a 40 mile radius. Yup, things are going great in the borg.
