  with so many "responsibilities" given to the witnesses by the "faithful and discreet slave", there is little time for them to do anything these days except sleep - and that is when they're not out preaching at unearthly hours in the morning.. .

  the enormous pressure to perform, and to be under the watch of the elders to make sure you perform, is a draining experience.. .

  a book i have on sociology says this regarding jehovah's witnesses, when discussing sects, that "they require intensive commitments and demonstrations of belief by members.

  To Theocrat, You mentioned about not working hard and attaining a 401k, well that may be well and good for you, however what about the widowed wife you may leave behind, if you are married. what if you had grandchildren growing up in destitue poverty? You may not desire the benefits of a 401k account but what about your family? You need to consider your family in this and not just yourself, just because you would desire to live in poverty doesnt mean your wife or children should. The watchtower society preaches love but really is just a selfish, petty, devil inspired cult

  Do JW parents ENJOY watching their kids struggle ???

  speaking from my observations in my family .... have an uncle, very successful travel business, very well off, both kids in their 30's 40's never had a job, both in bethel and have nothing.. another had 5 kids , did very well, all kids are pioneers and or bethel kids and have nothing, one just left bethel and now living in a one bedroom apartment with wife.. and they have no future or skills, .

  even my one brother, 2 kids both work part time, and pioneer, yet he would never quit his job and go into the full time work, in fact his wife just got a job.. and what bugs me about this, is, they shove it down their kids throats, and yet they would never give up their jobs, they would never pioneer, i find it disturbing and sad.. and i saw this at the kingdom hall as well, anyone have similar experiences ??

  It used to bug me when there would be an elder give a talk from the platform and he was discouraging college and careers, when several of these well off elders became jw's after they went to college and secured high paying jobs, it seemed almost hypocritical. I believe in the case of my father that he actually wanted us to have it harder than he did growing up. Most good parents nowadays will bend over backward to make sure their kids have a better life than they did.

  hi all, its been a while since ive posted to this board, due to technical difficulties with my webtv.

  im currently using a public terminal and can only post when i come to the mall.

  im looking to meet other ex-jw's in knoxville tenn area.

  i used to post here over a year ago and then for some reason i couldnt access the site anymore due to my webtv no doubt.

  actually i could access it, but i couldnt post or check my messages, so i have been reading the messages here for the last year with no way to post back.

Anyway I want to say that this seems to be the best Ex-Jw webtsite I have come across. The amount of topics and input here is phenomenal, and everything here seems so relevant and stays mostly within the parameters of JW topics. anyway I hope to talk more with you all as time goes on. I wont be able to post everyday since I have to come to the mall here to get online.

To answer KLS-I dont post much online because my webtv is incompatible and I just discovered this free internet community lab here at the mall. well you all I must head home now. I would help out silentlambs. I would have anti-jw billboards posted on our highways from sea to shining sea. Does anyone else here ever think about how they would use alot of money constructively, speaking out against the ravages of the watchtower society?
