Have you tried the meetup.com? I have and there are never enough signed up for it here, you need at least 3. I figure there would be at least 3 in pittsburgh though. Ciara, the woman im talking about is another michelle, she moved here from Louisiana 2 years ago, and is originally from western Kentucky.

i've lived here for about 1 1/2 years and haven't seen a single jw.
i read all the posts where there have been run-ins, people called on, elders talked to, etc.
and couldn't hardly wait for my turn.
I have been living here now for 3 1/2 years and they still havent come to my door, not even one tract-nada,zilch,zero I keep awaiting and anticipating the day when they finally ring my doorbell, Im still trying to figure out what to say to them, or how to act. I could always play the part of the nieve householder, or i could honestly be truthful up front with them an let them know how I really feel about the organization and its doctrines. I cant decide what to do, but im sure when the occasion presents itself I will know what to do.

Well it has been a month since the big Apostafest, and I still miss it to this day. I dont post as often as I like due to the fact I have to come to the mall in order to post. I come here about twice a week now and post a topic or two. Well lets see, we went to Kentucky over fathers day weekend and had a good visit with my inlaws an my cousins, I even attended church with them. Other than that, it has rained alot here and Ive lost some of my tan that I had in Texas. Im planning on going to Ohio next month and stay with my mom and grandpa, and im hoping to meet up with some other former witnesses while im there. Nothing much else going on here, with the exception of me meeting michelle from the board here. She is originally from western kentucky, but moved here from louisiana. She seemed really nice and we discussed alot of things pertaining to JW's. well thats it, maybe I can start posting more again

Bingo!! After nearly 3 1/2 years living in this "dead zone" they call knoxville I have finally met up with someone local from the board. Her name is michelle and she is from Louisiana and has just recently started posting here. She seemed like a really nice person and we had a long talk about our experiences growing up in the organization. Its about time someone local has come to this board, I have felt like the lone "apostate" for the last several years. Anyway I just thought I would share this.

just heard from a friend who attends a cong.
in long island - the elder said that the dubs should not buy food outside the colisseum (there is a mcdonalds nearby) as the contract the society has with nassau would be under threat.. this seems to be a new phenomenon - are the vendors putting extreme pressure on them to let them sell food?.
the gap between the morning and afternoon sessions is called an intermission.
I just thought I would let you all know that I personally emailed the coliseum and let them in on the real story as to why the WTBTS doesnt want food vendors at their conventions, im hoping I get a reply back, but either way I got my message through to them loud and clear

Here's one more and it may have been already said "this old system of things" I heard that one throughout my childhood.
i got to talking this over with my wife and she said "why dont you plan an apostafest here", to which i replied "there arent many xjw's in this state and dallas was so appropriate a location due to all the local people that attended" anyway i got to thinking we could plan a 3 day apostafest here in east tennessee, and for those that would like we could make it a camping event with all the campgrounds in the great smoky mountains im sure we could find one suitable for most people.
besides the national park we also have dollywood and gatlinburg.
for those of you not familiar with my area, the great smoky mountains is the most visited national park with 9 million visitors annually and most of these people staying in pigeon forge or gatlinburg.

i know, i know this is kind of a morbid subject but the subject actually came up between my husband and i the other night.
we have two completely different backgrounds and we have discovered that we want diff.
things to be done to us when we die.
I want to be buried in Kentucky on a mountaintop, not cremated. All throughout the bible it points to a burial of the dead, not a burning. The expressions "ashes to ashes" is not biblical and was conjured up by man. Im surprised the watchtower doesnt dive deeper into this subject as cremation has pagan ties no doubt. I see nothing wrong with having viewings of the body and feel cheated when family members who have died didnt have a viewing. The only people I have known that have reservations about the viewing of the dead are JW's, most everyone else in our family have had typical funerals, with the exception of my JW grandma who died last year from cancer, she was cremated and I had no clue about her plans until the few hours before she died when my dad told me of her upcoming cremation. I think most JW's choose cremation, just to be different. Im surprised they still hold meetings on Sunday as thats the day most churches have theirs, JW's will go to great lengths just to be different from Christendom.
