  1995 no big deal??

  when i discovered - only recently - the the masthead of the awake was changed in 1995 to eliminate "our creators promise" i found it apalling.

  it was a promise people!!

  i am curious, did the wtbts write articles or discuss this radical change or did they just slip it in?

  I just had to chime in on this one. I remember when I first discovered this change on the internet several years ago, I didnt realize the seriousness of this, sure I knew that it meant they were changing their view of the 1914 generation, but what I didnt really comprehend at the time was the fact that they lied on God. They stated it was "his" promise but in actuallity it was theirs and they were the ones proven wrong on the 1914 generation, the more I think about this, the more im convinced this is pure blasphemy.

  I Got a Response to my letter from the Watchtower Society!

  wow!

  "i knew they would answer".

  about a month or so ago i posted about a "witness" who was a white supremicist/racist who told me i was not allowed to go to the local kingdom hall, could not have a copy of the watchtower or awake, & that the bible was not for blacks.

  Wow Dolllie, in all my years growing up in this religion I encountered many different types of people, however I never knew anyone who was an avowed racist, this is almost unbelievable. Do keep us informed of this situation.

  Picketing Duluth Georgia convention

  i believe i finally found the perfect venue for me to picket, duluth ga, which is just outside of atlanta.the conventions there are the 2nd and 3rd weekend in august.

  i know absolutley no one in georgia and there are no chances i could run into any family members there.

  there are a couple of conventions before then in s.c. and johnson city tennessee, however for various reasons-monetary and otherwise i am choosing georgia.

  Aaron, growing up a witness had alot of negative effects both emotionally and financially on me, Even if I ever get over it, I feel I must do whatever I can to warn the world about JW's. Because I know there are literally thousands of kids out there in the organization who are going through the emotional turmoil that I did. If I can help one child to see through them and to plan for a future career then maybe they can be spared from making bad personal decisions based on the society's "armageddon is near" hogwash

  Even though I had doubts about it growing up, I had no way to disprove it at the time. After I was grown and moved to Ky, one of my jw cousins down there said that I needed to have a bible study, imagine that! I had been raised in that crap since birth and he felt i needed a bible study, what more could I possibly learn except the same old "excrement" well anyway we started getting into arguments at the studies and I basically told him that the bible was all man needed and not the wt's or awake. He quoted the particular publication which stated the dangers of bible reading alone, from then and there on I knew it was a fraud religion, but it wasnt until after 1994 when I realized that "this generation" was mostly dead that I knew without even one ounce of doubt that this was just a false cult.

  things I do not like about xmas

  aside from the reasons jws give as it being a pagan holiday renamed..... i do not like the fact that parents think nothing of lying to their children about this mythical santa claus.

  and the constant hollywood movies making anyone who exposes the gag as an evil monster...while giving children reasons to believe that santa claus really does exist after all...ignore your older friends who have been poisoned by the secular world.. i find it appalling to ever teach a child to simply expect people to give them things just because the calendar says a certain day.. i find the mindless devoution to christmas to be just as appalling as the brainwashing jws do against it... i see people in my office acting like german clocks... the clock strikes easter and the decorate the office, strikes holloween and they decorate again...strikes christmas and more decorations..... then the frets and worries over what to get who and how much to go into debt over it.. i knew one lady who spent over $300 on a child less than two and was very depressed about two weeks later when the novelty wore off and only very inexpensive things returned as the main attraction.

  Hey Zen nudist, what do you think of parents who wouldnt think of lying to their kids about a mythical santa claus, but on the same hand lie to them about a "mythical" armageddon or a mythical 1914 generation? I have always loved celebrating christmas and knew all along that we were missing out and being deprived of a normal upbringing. I basically celebrate it now as my finances allow it, and I love seeing all those lights and visiting with my non jw family during that season. I dont see anything wrong telling your kids about santa claus, its just a normal thing for kids growing up. I dont think many kids have been severely traumatized when they found out the truth about santa claus, however finding out the truth about jehovah's witnesses and living in that damaging and emotionally frustrating environment is a far worse alternative.

  Attention all Floridians

  i plan on visiting florida on aug. 28 for about a week, i will be staying with a friend in sarasota and will be visitng my grandma in a nursing home.

  i would like to meet up with others in that area and possibly the orlando and east coast area.

  so who all is a floridian on here?

  Oak Ridge still has alot of government and nuclear facilities, however i dont know anything about the old nuclear plant. There used to be a museum of atomic energy there, but im not sure if it still exists. By the way where in Florida do you live? I will be down that way the last of August
