  Hi Gitasatsangha, Is he still a JW or has he left? Man this just floors me, The only JW's I knew that were cops, were cops before they were baptized. It makes me wonder if there are any in my department and just dont know it. I have recently posted flyers at work looking to meet up with other former JW's I guess I will have to wait and see what kind of response I get.

  ...why american jw's sometimes pretend to follow robert's rules of order at the congregational level?

  this usually has to do with matters of money.

  a resolution will be introduced, a motion made, seconded and voted on, say to to embark on a remodel project for example.

  I have often wondered about this myself. The few times I remember congregational matters being voted on nobody ever dissented, what would happen if someone did? I told my Dad this whole arrangement of congregation voting was hypocritical, but then I realize they were only trying to kowtow to ceasars rules.

  Well Blondie as you know I work as a corrections officer in a county detention center, I dont think JW's would become corrections officers simply because of the self defense and martial arts training, and another thing corrections officers are required to use force when necessary, but JW's have always been more pacifistic. What do you think? have you known of any "real" JW's who have worked in police or corrections? I would be interested in finding out.

  Is The Watchtower Organization Thought Of As An American Religion?

  while we all know that the jehovah's witnesses are found throughout the world, someone once told me that in other countries the governing body does not carry the weight that they do in the united states.. do you living in germany, france, uk, australia, etc.

  feel that was the case?

  to me, it seemed that such persons as the australians were such a 'gutsy' independent, wild west sort of culture that would question authority more so than say a u.s. witness.. is this primarily thought of as an american religion by others?.

  Even though I knew they were headquartered in New York, I have always considered this a "foreign" religion as it seemed so un-american.

  Elder arrested for beating daughter

  elder david nesler was arrested in jackson california for striking his teen-age daughter (also a jw) in front of a high school.

  he is currently released and an active jw member who is allowed to participate in meetings, although his status as an elder is unknown.. this was not alleged to be sexual abuse, but it does certainly call into question the discretion of this elder.

  if this is what he does in public...?.

  You're right Sunspot, theyre only concern is for the image of jehovahs clean organization, they couldnt care 1 iota about this girl, only the organizations image.
