We had the good, the bad and the ugly. Same as any group on earth.
of the congregations was having problems with the teenagers.
The elders told him about it a the begining of the visit, and asked
him if he could pull them into line.
That week he gave the most loving encouraging talks addressed to the kids
(those days they wern't tied to soc outlines except for public talk).
The following Monday was a public holliday. He and his wife took
all the young ones on a picnic and played ball games etc with them.
He later became a DO, and was still very loving, and put himself out
for the brothers.

Thank you Flash,
I really appreciate your concern and suggestions.
Like you, we still believe in God and the Bible. In fact we are enjoying our spiritual life more now than when we were attending meetings. Our Bible reading is more interesting and we have gained a lot from Philip Yancey's books. Of course he believes in the trinity and imortal soul which we don't. But we just ignore those bits.
Particularly, we have learned more about HAVING TENDER AFFECTION FOR ONE ANOTHER" in his books'
than in the society's publications.
Thank you and take care

Thank you Blondie,
Although my husband had been a faithful Witness for almost 60 years, many of those in the full time work, nobody has visited or even called in the two years since we stopped attending meetings. A new PO has been appointed but he hasn?t even bothered to get to know the ?sheep? he is supposed to be shepherding.
Don't be quick to re-instate someone disfellowshipped. A couple of years ago we were told whenever a disfellowshipped person makes a plea for re-instatement we are to meet with the person. However this does not mean we should re-instate the person. Some have been re-instated after 6 months, the Branch is concerned about the decisions of committees in this regard. We need to allow sufficient time to see the person's works of repentance which could take a year or years. It is hard enough for us to be aware of what a publisher is doing when he is in the congregation, it is more difficult when they are outside the congregation, so allow sufficient time."
You would have to think it to be another example of Ted Jaracz and his service dept against the writing dept.
Thanks again Blondie for your work in our behalf.

I too attended a funeral for a young man who had overdosed. We will call him Bill. The man who took the service had not met Bill. However he had obviously spent time with the family and gave a very warm history of Bill. I thought it was so considerate the way he alluded to Bill going on drugs. He said ?about then Bill lost his focus?. The rest was just about the resurrection.
What is interesting is that the man giving the service was a Jehovah?s Witness elder and Bill had never been a witness but his parents had recently been baptized. I have to say I could not fault the service, and I was ready and willing to do so.
Now don?t pick on me. I also have been to Witness services which were just propaganda.
But in the spirit of fairness I felt I should mention this one. I don?t have to be unfair just because I am no longer a Witness, do I? -

I know for a fact that Milton Henschel was not taken off "the list" even though he could barely put two words together coherently for the last three years of his life. yesidid

Thank you Blondie,
I really appreciate the warning. Odrade is undoubtedly correct. The visits will increase.
We will probably have two visits in two years instead of one.
We are also grateful for your time and effort not to mention the perceptive powers you use to read between the lines.
Please give our best to Irreverent.

Would you have accepted THIS response from the Watchtower. Re: U.N
by integ indear brothers,
it has been brought to our attention that certain brothers have had questions regarding the societies' membership as a non governmental organization with the united nations from 1991-2001. rest assured that we are no longer members, having removed ourselves from this organization over 3 years ago.
it was only in our undaunted zeal to proclaim the good news to "all nations" (as was jesus' admonition), in these critical last days, that the faithful slave class approved membership as an ngo.

Yes Integ, I would have been content with that. You covered all the bases and quite frankly it could have happened that way.
Yes I would have accepted that, and thought "thats a turnaround the're actually apologizing", but it wouldn't have been enough to get me back.
A hundred wild elephants couldn't drag me back.
