what does everyone think, is dating avenues really that big of a deal?

i have been told by everyone on my congregation to not trust online dating.

Oh yeah, and I would NOT recommend POF.... Loaded with Nut Jobs... Been there done that, gone everywheres from crazytown to Gehenna and back and have the t-shirts to prove it! lol

I understand that I can't be disfellowshipped yet, but I can't really date a JW right now without being baptised eaither, because none of them in there right mind should touch me with a ten foot pole right now.

I just don't want to get at the point when I am baptised that I am still in the habit of looking outside the organization.

The sister I was refering to though with that story, really had a set of un-fortunete circumstances, that tainted some of her views on christian men.

I am probably not supposed to talk to you, because I am a Bible Student and I am serious about baptism. But I REALLY appreciate that poem as a peice of art from your soul on how you feel. I can actually somewhat still relate to some of what you say here.

And its very difficult because divorce is frowned upon too, once your married, thats it, your bound for life until death or adultry.

I personally don't care about their "spiritual status", especailly since I have not been raised in this religion, but for those who this is all they have ever know, apparently its a turn on because you can see how much they love Jehovah.

But it also goes to show, how some people can really manipulate an organization, I am not just talking about JW, but it just demonstrates how deceiving one can be.

I have looked into JW Match, you have to pay in order to contact people though. And yes I agree, about calling the congregation, the elders would not be doing their protective duty if they answered an inquiry on someone who appears to be "love struck" by one of their congregation members over the phone.

It is advised though by people I know, if I like someone, go to their congregation and ask about him that way.

Okay so here is another question up for debate.

How do you tell if someone in the congregation has a crush on you? I mean just because I am a Bible Student and technically "Off Limits" doesn't mean someone is not crushing and waiting until I am baptised.

Is there any signals that would differ from how to tell if anyone else likes you? I just think the signs would be different.

Oh yeah I understand that complealey.

This is an on-going debate between me and the sister I study with. And thats what I worry about the whole "head of the family" thing going to his head.

I have heard this from another sister that they are discouraged from persuing higher education, but when I asked other members and elders, they said it was not true. You can take any chourse you want.

I think maybe they just would be more pleased if you chose a career in pioneering than secular work.

Sherry, your story sounds very similar to one of my sisters in the congregation, except they are not divorced as of yet, and what had happend is he actually kicked her and the kids out of the house too.

The heartbreaking part of this, is what she told me about him before they married what really turned her on about him, is he was a very zelous pioneer and everything, with alot of spiritual goals and everything.

See this is what worries me about marrying a yes a "bonified baptised JW man" but here is the thing, because I love the truth, I can't really marry anyone who is not a JW, I would probably end up being marked as a result.

I am really glad I found this site, because with anyone else I would be expected to say that it is because I love Jehovah that I will limit myself to JW men, and yes that is true I do love Jehovah, but its not a stand alone reason, I also don't want to be marked as a bad associate or possibly be dis-fellowshipped. Which seems very un-likely but I have seen it happen in the exact same situation.

I am relativley new here too joe.

LostGeneration. I definetly see your point, I have my own reasons for not wanting to limit myself, and its a topic of debate every week with my study partner.

However despite my reasons, I am choosing to limit myself to JW men, only because if I can find someone true to the faith, its not going to be as like what you just described.

I see what you mean though, I always wondered if the women are happy with their husbands, and I do see some very good marraiges in the congregation, my study partner for instance has become my best friend and has a wonderful husband, and he is the most affectionate man towards her I have ever seen, and I know its not put on eaither because she blushes right in front of me every time he comes in and kisses her on the cheek.

I have also already tried dating a Non JW as someone who wants to be one, and he was not willing to stick with me, it was very painful.
