Youth of today!
by RR inwhen i was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning uphill both ways through year 'round blizzards carrying their younger siblings on their backs to their one-room schoolhouse where they maintained a straight-a average despite their full-time after-school job at the local textile mill where they worked for 35 cents an hour just to help keep their family from starving to death!
and i remember promising myself that when i grew up there was no way in hell i was going to lay that garbage on kids about how hard i had it and how easy they've got it!
now that i've reached the ripe old age of forty, i can't help but look around and notice.

Damn Holidays !
by JH inevery time a holiday happens to be in the middle of the week, i get mixed up, and wonder what day we are.
this morning, i had the impression it was saturday.
good thing i had my watch to tell me it was tuesday.

right to not salute flag

i'm doing a term paper on the flag salute case, mainly the court cases minersville v gobitis and west virginia v. barnette.
i'm looking for anyone who had a problem with saluting the flag when they were in school.

by zehrah inhey i'm looking for anyone belonging to the gobitas, barnette, mcclure, stull, nicholls, or/and wasliewski families.. i'm doing a term paper on the flag salute issue, and all of the above people were involved in court cases in the 1930s and 1940s.
even if your arent any of the above people, but have had a problem with your choice not to salute the flag (whether it went to court or not) please e-mail me.
