It didn't just stifle my ambition it stifled me - fullstop. But I finally broke free and reclaimed my life and now I'm at university and loving every minute of it even if i am a mature student. I graduate this year and then I'll ride off into the sunset to find a job i feel is worth doing and its not gonna be window cleaning!

Did being a JW stifle your ambition?
by ballistic indid being a jw stifle your ambition?
did not needing to plan for the future affect your career choices and your consequent wealth?.
i'm not simply talking about following the advice to not take up an education which has been discused many times, but i'm going further to say that those brought up in "the truth" had their whole philosophy moulded and shaped in a way which never searched for more or wanted more; a non-materialistic outlook.. now some may still say materialism is evil, or that being brought up this way leads to a more content life.. the cynics, like myself, will say that keeping people 'happy but poor' is the genius of the rich.. i've had some success after leaving the org, after taking up education and so on, but it has taken time.

I'm with Ballistic, I ride all weathers, I commute to work on my Suzuki Bandit come rain or shine. Though I must say i prefer the shine! Doing London traffic in rush hour is an experience I wouldn't recommend nor is the helmet hair, I have a bad hair day everyday! But for fun - I just lurve those sports bikes, been thinking about getting a ZX-6RR or a GSXR or a CBR6 or a R6 its so hard choose. Well, until then I'll just have to put up with my little but nippy CBR400 for the time being until I've had a few more test rides at least!
Love all ya bikes, I rather fancy touring the US on a Harley - mmmm think i better start planning!

Help the Elders are after me!!!!!!!!
by auntiem inokay, an elder just showed up at my doorstep and he was wearing sweat suit and sweat pants and he was alone.
whats up with that?
is this a new tactic to get me to talk?
-
AnotherEscapee
Hi auntiem
They're after me too, but like you I'll DA myself when I'm good and ready. They're trying to DF me but I'm fighting that, I won't go easily. I've just posted another letter to them, if you like I'll email them to you, they may give you some ideas, I've successfully stalled them so far. I think in the end they'll do as they please - actually said to me by one of them but until then I'll give them a bit of grief.
I don't want to be any part of that organisation but I won't be bullied by them, that happened for long enough. I think they're a little shocked I'm fighting them but I need to do it for me.

Ok so where do I start?
*Having a noisy child
*Inviting a 'marked' sister back for a coffee with the rest of group after the service
*Asking "if we leave things to Jehovah and keep our mouths shut who's he going use to sort the problem out?"
*Having 3 ear-rings in one ear
*Having a tattoo
*Riding a motorbike
and one I'll never forget. It still causes me to fall about laughing when I think about it, the elder who spoke to me said they'd discussed it in the elders meeting:-
*my nipples showing through my top when its cold!

by Bendrr ina show i'm sure you brits are familiar with.

Hiya All
If you like Julia S in AbFab you'll just love her in a one-off comedy called The Flint Street Nativity Play, it was out a few xmas's ago. My daughter and me absolutely loved it, it was so funny. It's about a class of kids, all played by adults, getting ready for their school's nativity play - one line in it uttered by Julia herself when talking about a school mate was "that's Monica's drawing that is, she's not here, she's not allowed, she's a Jehovah Witness and she can't do anything not even watch TV" - pretty much sums them up really.

Ways "THEY" Controlled You
by minimus in"they" refers to the watchtower society, the elders, the brothers and sisters, etc.
when you look at how much control has been exerted over us over the years, you can't help but be amazed.
for example, if we had a major snowstorm in the area and the entire state was told by the governor to "please not go out", unless the call was made by the elders, the meeting was still on and you were expected to attend.

I was once councelled by a PO in front of 8 people at a dinner party, my sin - wearing a dress that showed my knees and bare arms. My reply to him when he asked if I thought it was appropriate wear for a christian sister and wife of an elder was - "I'm wearing it arn't I and its a darn sight more appropriate than your wife's dress with her big old bosum hanging out!". I thought he was going to self destruct he was so angry, unfortunately, he didn't! I always fought against their control, I stayed for my family but now I realise the only way to help them is to be free of the borg and hope I can help them see the real truth about the WTS.

Did you want to be a MS?
by JH indo you think that if a brother didn't become a ministerial servant in a reasonable amount of time, that he was considered weak?
did you want to be a ms or did you prefer not to have any responsibilities in the congregation?

Is he odd? I've a vague recollection of a letter from the WTS saying 'oddities' arn't welcome! I remember being really confused cos my ex sister-in-law's father went to one and he talked and acted like a darlek! (scary thing in Dr Who for those to young to know).
