Yeah Lloyd Evans seems to have made a few enemies along the way. I think the issue that most take is that he makes a living out of it.

That been said his work has been hugely beneficial to the exjw community. He played a major role in my awakening. To be honest I actually have a lot of respect for the guy.

last weekend was a convention in frankfurt, germany and 11 other locations.

all were connected to the international convention in berlin.. in sum about 94.000 attended.

Although I can’t confirm what happened in Germany. But I can say that we had a DO in this country who used to make those in attendance sing 2 songs at the end of each assembly. Needless to say it didn’t last long before wt shut it down. Merve King was his name (an Australian). Really nice guy to. I remember him saying “think swerve and you won’t miss Merve.

Counter Witness Video

someone posted a counter mormon video on another thread and suggested we have one available to show after witnessses show us a wt video at the door.. sounds like a great exchange witness approach.

all we need is a good short video that could either bless witnesses with the gospel or plant seeds of doubt in wts authority.

I have found that ex-Mormon video a good way of been able to deal with my orthodox PIMI jw relatives. It gets my message across in in a none confrontational manner.

as some of you know by now, i spent sunday, 7 august, renewing ties with a dear friend.

we're both disfellowshipped, the difference between us being he is seeking reinstatement and i am not.

we got into some very spirited discussions on different bible topics and one of them was the value of the new world translation itself.

I saw a video of Freddie a couple years before he died. Physically the man was broken but mentally he was as sharp as a razor. He recited the bible off perfectly with out even a “um”. Couldn’t fault it. When ever I hear about people talking about his “IQ” level, it always reminded me of that video I saw.

I get the impression he may of been the eccentric type. Who in reality all he wanted to do was stay locked in his room and come up with some new knowledge on the bible. Unfortunately his life style affect the lives of millions.

Do You For The Most Part Trust The News Media?

the media is very powerful.

many news people just want to get a scoop even if their breaking story isn’t checked out for accuracy.

some journalists are precise and double check whatever they are reporting.

I can give you an account of the news media. I knew a person who was a close blood relative (although had little to do with the relative or his family )of a person who was convicted of committing a brutal rape and murder.

When it all happened and during the trial him and his wife were receiving unsolicited phone calls and visits from journalists, wanting their thoughts on the case. Unfortunately he also carried the same name as the perpetrator (a name which also wasn’t very common) and it got to the point we’re he was even to scared to mention his last name. He ended up locking his gate.
