by TallTexan ini haven't been to a meeting in years, but i was recently told by a friend of mine that they have really been hammering the 'use of your valuable things in support of the kingdom' in many of the talks and thursday night parts.
i know they used to mention it all the time, but he said it's gotten really bad lately.
i told him that's because the membership in the western (translate that to "richer"...lol) countries has really fallen off and even become negative in many countries and that the 3rd world countries can't contribute enough to support the great publishing empire.

Another thing I’ve found is that churches tend to fit their service times around when most people can attend. The parishioner is free to attend what ever service he prefers.

I tend to agree with a religion that is mainly online, with some sort of minimal subscription fee. Although, all the physical assets will be sold, there will be assembly halls in major locations that subscribes can attend when they can get there, or with special events e.g memorial.

I can’t see them officially meeting in homes, under wt direction. It would just be toooo risky. Just imagine if a child was sexually abused in a home of a WT sanctioned event. Its a lot harder to perpetrate that kind of crime in a public hall than what it is to carry it out in a private premises. Sanctioning home events would just revert them back to their current problem. I believe this was the main reason they discontinued the book study.
