  Big Cull of Foreign Language Groups and Congregations

  i overheard mrs eyeslice listening to '2021 governing body update 3' yesterday.

  apparently, they have started ditching foreign language groups and congregations as these weren't exactly roping anyone in.

  of course there is a positive spin on all this - '4,000 plus elders freed up to serve in local language congregations' and of course there has been immensely positive feedback from various branches about the benefits of this.. i suspect though there will be an awful lot of elders who were serving as king pins in these congregations who are going to have their noses put out by going back to local language congregations where they will barely be used.

  I remember reading some where that in Mexico they culled a lot of the English congs. Apparently the locals were attending for free English lessons. Or maybe there was some arbitrary rule about you couldn’t go unless you were a native speaker. Wt is good at arbitrary rules.

  Ok here is tonight’s scenario. I walk in the door to see my elderly father sitting at the dinner table. I switch on the TV and sit down. Now I respect, and accept that it’s his house, so I play by his rules. However, the minute I sit down to watch TV he then starts up a question and answer ministry school type discussion with me from the latest watchtower. It went on for 15 minutes. I grinned and beard it with a smile on my face. Finished off watching my tv program, and was quite proud of the way I handled it.

  Now that I think on it. Watchtower should be thankful to have an apostate like me. In fact they should be so full of gratitude they should be making me an honorary member of the 144k club. The bullshit that I save my father from hearing. When that documentary “the witness” aired on the local tv channel. I actually took him out to dinner to prevent him from seeing it. I would be so annoyed if he was confronted by a cart crasher. Isn’t it ironic how it’s an apostate trying to protect him from apostates. I can’t believe the things I do at times and the craziness of it.

  do you think there will be a noticeable drop-off in attendance as we have read on here that many have left or faded?

  In my local area. One orthodox elder has moved way out into the country. At least a good half hour drive to the hall. His reasoning been that location is no longer important to been a JW. In his opinion they won’t be going back to the hall. I have a super PIMI relative who has similar sentiments. Ironically, when I questioned them about where they thought the money would go for the sales of these halls. They said they were been used to build halls in Africa where people don’t have access to JWdot borg on the internet. I tell you the BS I contend with is unbelievable.

  Wt has a critical decision to make here, with no face to face contact. Sure they remove their liability for CSA and the like. But they are also going to lose the level of control they can exude on the rank and file. Only 12 months in and already mother is complaining about people having study groups that open and close with prayer. There are certainly pros and cons.

  the catholics are significantly worse.

  i’m after statistical information that proves him wrong.

  be before that.. bible student and they merged before 1917 with russelites and they merge with adventists, and then miller in 1844.before that be disperse into baptist and other denominations.

  I have to agree with slim, as regard to Adventisism. WT portrays Russel as the man who was a great thinker and an influence to Barber, and Stores. I tend to think it was the other way around with Barber and stores been the great thinkers and influencing Russel. What circumstantial evidence do I have to support this. Russel incorporated many adventist ideals, and it was intially Stores and Barber who had the adventist leanings. Russel mearly borrowed and incorporated it into one organisation.

  If they do sell up and run with the money, they will inevitably lose control. 12 months in and already control cracks are beginning to appear with people holding independent study groups. How much longer they can hold this off with virtual meetings. Is anyone’s guess.

  I’ve spoken to two ultra Pimis in my local area. Both think it would be a good idea to never go back to the KH. So much for what I heard about Jehovah’s spirit was felt inside his house of worship.

  Been and gone here for almost 24 hours. I spun a story to my father to get out of attending. It wasn’t that I didn’t have the time. It was more out of principle that I didn’t want to attend. Lol
