Still a Christian, believe the bible to be the word of God, but I don’t believe in WT nonsense.

Were You Affected By Weird Elders?
by minimus inwe all had some to deal with some.
you would ask yourself, “how the hell did this guy ever get to be an elder”???.
we had one elder originally from england that used to wear his pants belted up to his chest with typically a dirty spotted tie and shirt.

One elder was nick named, Charles the hit man Glendening. He was a leftist Nazi.
A CO who was nick named jack the women hater Teasy. Although not so Nazi like. If you wore a dress you were on his radar.
Hans Hubler (DO) was just a total arse. More a combo of the above 2. He was so bad I wonder why wt put up with his antics for as long as they did.

while i understand that some may have been born outside of the us, ultimately to serve in the world hq long term, i imagine that they all had to become 'americans'?.

The Dutch tend to be quite liberal and open minded in their thinking. This is probably the reason the Dutch JWs were so willing to criticise HQ.

Drastic Upcoming Changes? (accelerated by the pandemic)
by JWTom ingood to see you again!
much discussion now about the fallout that is coming due to impacts of the pandemic combined with the long-term downward spiral of jw.org.
i am active as a pimo and my wife is pimi....much of our personal conversation and conversation with others in jw land focuses on how things will play out for jw.org in the next 12-24 months.

If the religion does get smaller post covid. I can see this been a good thing. PIMOS are a dead weight, and are costly to keep. What they need is a more devoted group of followers who are prepared to part with their money. -

Going on line would certainly have it benefits, with regard to been liable for CSA, DFing, no blood Put a subscription fee to access JW org and that would solve their money and liability woes.
The problem with being totally on line, is they lose control. Not even 12 months of been on line, and already they have sent out an elders letter sanctioning independent zoom groups. They should be thinking long and hard if they decided to sell up and run with the money.

Covid / India
by stan livedeath inits been strangely quiet on here lately about covid..or isnt it news any more.
the " not a pandemic" brigade have been noticably absent about the situation in india..

I work with this indian guy. He was relating a story to me about a neighbour who lives next door to his family still in India. He passed away outside on the street connected to an oxygen bottle. There was just no room in the hospital left. What a terrible way to die.

i am not referring to derek chauvin because that topic is often discussed.
however, i don’t hear much discussion with regards to the other officers who were also charged.

I think you would have to be a bloody idiot to want to join the police force in the USA, with all that has happened.

Big Cull of Foreign Language Groups and Congregations
by eyeslice ini overheard mrs eyeslice listening to '2021 governing body update 3' yesterday.
apparently, they have started ditching foreign language groups and congregations as these weren't exactly roping anyone in.
of course there is a positive spin on all this - '4,000 plus elders freed up to serve in local language congregations' and of course there has been immensely positive feedback from various branches about the benefits of this.. i suspect though there will be an awful lot of elders who were serving as king pins in these congregations who are going to have their noses put out by going back to local language congregations where they will barely be used.

I remember reading some where that in Mexico they culled a lot of the English congs. Apparently the locals were attending for free English lessons. Or maybe there was some arbitrary rule about you couldn’t go unless you were a native speaker. Wt is good at arbitrary rules.
