I actually know of a case where this happened. Except it was to buy this elder a car. He then managed to buy a car by applying to the lotteries board, through his sick wife. Yup you got it he got money from the people watchtower slams. I remember it been quite a scandal at the time. I was actually quite relived, at the same time, as I felt uneasy about if.

Reddit post about elder asking congregation for money to fix his car!
by LongHairGal inyes, there’s a post on reddit.
it says that after a zoom meeting a request was made to baptized publishers to give $20 apiece to fix this elder’s car.. while this sounds highly irregular to me and not necessarily approved by the religion, i am not at all surprised at the nerve.
this, unfortunately, seems to be the direction that things are going there!

Regional Convention Attendance
by XBEHERE inelder friend of mine texted me asking what my rc attendance was 2 weeks ago (family and i streamed it since wife is not well).
he told me that his rc in the jersey city assembly hall last weekend was low.
co told them that around 2600 were the total from 16+ congs that were assigned.

I can’t help but think what a joyless dark place watchtower is. As far as handing out microphones, and aspiring to be an elder in your 20s, what else is there to look forward to. One thing I’ll give the mormons full credit for doing, is organising events and activities where their youth can mix and mingle. Wt does absolutely nothing, and has got the results to prove it. Oh sorry they do, do something. Thats DF them when they go astray.

So he would definitely be more happy staying PIMI or at least PIMA
Im guessing probably? I think mentally apathetic may have been more his thing. The mistake he made was getting into drugs at a very young age. Once it took hold of him, it just intensified his narcissistic personality.

Guaranteed way not to get disfellowshipped
by ExBethelitenowPIMA inif it’s looking like someone may be disfellowshiped or announced they are no longer a jw and they don’t want to be shunned they just want to fade without being shunned - just say that would make me suicidal .
simple.
in the new shepherding book it says if they say that then don’t go ahead with it.

I can relate something similar to Bluesbrother. I hear reports of ones when they leave of harassment by elders. When I left, and to this point in time, I’ve heard nothing. So much so, that I don’t know if it was a blessing at their lack of interest or an insult. Idk so much for going after the lost sheep.

It’s been ten years since I last stepped into a KH. . In dealing with orthodox JW my advice is “the less said the better off you’ll be.”

Confirmed: CO Discourages Zoom
by XBEHERE ini can confirm that the co during one of his service talks stated that zoom is a provision for elderly, infirmed, as well as people who might need it on occasion due to health reasons, otherwise you are expected to be in person at meetings and in the ministry.
this had to come down from the top.
maybe they do not want to put it in a gb update or broadcast since that would be too public i suppose.

I don’t think HQ would be brave enough to put it in writing, discouraging zoom.

Although I still hold onto the Christian ethos. I’m so glad that I left the nonsense of the JWs a decade ago. I think were many trip up when leaving the JWs, particularly the youth. Is in visioning greater freedom out side of the JWs, only to be entrapped in another form slavery in secularisation. I think the reasons for leaving the JWs can affect how well you’ll do on the outside. I left not for secularisation in itself but rather a vote of no confidence of 8 guys in New York. Hence I mostly avoided the pitfalls. The best advice I give for those considering leaving, particularly if they are young. Is “the body is a temple, and is to be kept clean. Remember that and you will do well. Don’t, and you’ll get yourself into a world of hurting. I have a cousin who ignored this. He’s now living under a bridge addicted to Meth. Tbh even though as a JW he was a narcissistic little prick, he probably would have been better off if he had stayed.

Yes I agree, it’s more about the control. It hard to monitor someone when you don’t know where they are, or what they get up to. This is the problem they have and I can’t really see them going totally on line.
