I live in the 3rd fattest country on the planet. I’d hate to think what would happen if they implemented that here. A good number can hardly walk to the fridge, net alone fight a war. WTF.

Conscription FEARS to END? Jehovah's Witnesses in EUROPE?
by raymond frantz inhttps://www.jwupdates.com/post/conscription-fears-across-europe-could-end-jehovah-s-witnesses.
as the clouds of war are gathering fast over the european continent many countries including britain are contemplating a return to conscription and some form of mandatory military service.
considering the fact that the watchtower fought long and hard especially in europe for the right of its believers to abstain from military service it is very interesting to see how this new development will affect the watchtower across europe.

Fading is better then completely leaving...comments?
by Witness 007 ini got the internet in my house and realised it's all lies....but as a pioneer/ministerial servant i chose to fade.
see i had family and friends who were fully strict witnesses.
so i played the poor lost soul brother who is not sure what's happening.

To be fair, I’m a fader purely because it just makes caring for my parent more easy with less hassles. Recently I had a close JW relative die, where I was left to arrange the funeral. This was done effectively with little hassle. Credit to the congregation as the service and refreshments were all done by them. Apart from the infomercial service, it was lovely seeing this relatives long time friends turn up. This would have been far more problematic if I was DFed. I still lead a relatively secular lifestyle but have found a compromise. Christmas and birthdays are something I could go with out. They are costly and time consuming. I don’t mind attending them, but really can’t be bothered with my own. I actually see not celebrating Christmas / birthdays as a bonus of been a JW. I’m probably in the minority here though.

Hotels for convention
by ElderBerry ina department in bethel wants to try to make money from regional conventions by asking local hotels if they will give a special rate and a coupon code to give to jws.. .
they should just keep it simple and not be greedy for dishonest gain.. .
this year some convention sites the hotels said no thank you i think the jws are going to book with us anyway.

Notformer - Wt certainly doesn’t have the grip it used to. I recently heard of a one day assembly that was held on a long weekend. My PIMI relative was complaining about the timing and the low attendance of 500. The assembly hall is built for 2000, and when I was going attendance was around 1000+. I remember a similar occasion many decades ago, when an assembly was held between Christmas and new years. It was a packed stadium in the middle of the sun.

Be interesting to see with regard to that assembly part. Are they testing the water to see the reaction be, or did the speaker go rogue on them. This could be big.

Where is Tony?
by Athanasius inon february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.
a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.
in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.

I’m sure if he could be moved sideways they would have. The bottom line was his drinking and mouth were just out of control. He was a liability and removal was the only option. If he had stayed I’m sure he would have been DFed. An even worse look.

I do feel these changes have been the result of ToMo getting the chop. He was what was holding up change.

Even with recent changes it’s a struggle to get people to attend
by hoser inthe kingdom hall is still empty.
even with amalgamation of 2 congregations.
the elders are handling the microphones and there was only one comment from zoom at the watchtower.

Dagney: I couldn’t agree more. My father get all starry eyed talking about the cong of Jah. Nothing would give me more pleasure than for him to walk out the door giving them the middle finger. This, however, is just not an option. His community is good for him, and to wake up now would mean an untimely death. Then no body wins. He’s happy content, and I’m pleased he’s serving Jehovah AKA watchtower.

A recent 2 day convention I heard about had an attendance of 500 on the Saturday. The person attending commented about how empty the assembly hall looked. When I was attending it was around the 1000 mark. To be fair, it was at the worst time ever. On a one long weekend. Guess people preferred to be at the lake.

I believe a lot of the witnesses in HK are Philippine migrant workers. It’s very much the same story in oil rich eastern countries where they are also under ban.
