"Come and join us" then "Call the police"
Lol! JW's are funny.
Nice work speaking out, you've got such courage.
i have been rather scarce i know, i've been so very busy with work that i don't really have much time to log on, and we had someone come into our home and steal our laptop, so haven't been able to log on at home either.. work is still going very well.
it's not easy cold selling, but i've had a good few ads come in and keep me ticking over.
every now and again i pop because i simply don't know what else management want me to do, i'm doing everything i can.

anybody know where i can really get some good understanding showing from the bible that their shunning practices are not correct?.
The bible does talk about apostates doesn't it? Apostates being shunned.
hi all so my family had their c.a.
last weekend and my mother dropped this one on me, she'll now be treating me as a df'd person per info she received from a talk at the assembly.
apparently a fader should be treated as "bad association" given the fact they up and left the holy "truth" to splash around in vomit.. .
If someone is not a JW anymore but is a bigtime christian (not associated with any particular religion though) and follows Jesus teachings closely - would I be shunned as an apostate if I 'apostacised' against Jesus Christ - AKA an atheist, would in some cases told people politely that Jesus didn't perform any miracles.
?
Edit: to clarify, that is if they were following the scriptures admonition.

Oh so that's why no one answers my emails or messages when all I do is ask them how they're going. Inactive are the new disfellowshipped.
i had been wondering over the past few years whether there really was a historical jesus at all, until a few months ago when i read bart ehrman's latest book "did jesus exist?
" initially i was persuaded by his argument that the nt contains multiple sources that testify to jesus' existence.
but more recently i have been reading the christ myth position of richard carrier and his responses to ehrman.
It doesn't bother me if he existed or not, but it's interesting to hear both arguments.
The Jew's will say he's not the messiah - but they may say he existed.

There's a possibility that Nazareth didn't exist in Jesus day, but only was around after he died when the accounts were being written - not proven though, there's no strong evidence either way.
Also, if you read the account about Jesus entering the city on a Donkey - it says 'in order that the prophesy is fulfilled'. Meaning the disiples knew what the prophesy was (from reading the old testiment) as did Jesus, so they found a donkey for Jesus to enter the city on. This is just a point to rebutt someones mention of the dead sea scrolls prophesying Jesus in advance.
Why would the first 3 century Christians put them selves through persecution and violent death for a fabricated character?
Why do muslims do the same?
What are these archilogical evidences?
If you're referring to the 'artifacts' in Jerusalem. Eg. A bit of wood that is supposedly part of the cross. Or some dirt patch that is supposedly where the cross was etc etc - then please.
told my husband to put a muzzle on my mouth over the blood dogma.
we all were driving around in field service when the topic of "which fragments would you take if you were in a car accident or cut yourself badly".
said his choice is a personal one, another sister with chronic health problems said she had no problem with the governing body's new light on taking various fragments.
That's an interesting point.
What if some of the 'blood fractions' were from a Satanist?

Imagine this situation:
A couple of people are in an isolated area - one of them is a JW.
An accident occurs and one of the people loses alot of blood and urgently needs a blood transfusion to save his life. The only other person there with the correct blood type is the witness. They are in such a remote area that there's no time to get blood from elsewhere.
They ask the witness to lie down so they can take a pint to save the others life - what does the witness say?....
i stumbled across this site.
was wondering what you all think about it?.

Bump.
@ DataDog. But do they believe all the spiritual stuff they write about?
i have a friend who is a sociologist.
this person does research on being gay and mormon, and will shortly come out with a book.
we had a lengthy discussion about cults (in general, and jws in particular), and basically the sociologist believes that all religions are cults.
You could make the distinction this way:
Cults. (destructive high control)
Latent cults. (potential to be destructive high control)
Anything that requires blind faith without evidence (which is pretty much all religions) I would lump in one of these catagories.
Guilty until proven innocent ;p
