People can discuss this stuff forever; but the simple problem is, is that you are attributing significance to an ancient tribal war god, that has no connection to reality.

"for moses said unto the fathers, "a prophet ( jesus - verse 20 ) shall the lord your god raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me, him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
and it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
" ( acts 3:22, 23 ).
If that was indeed what we find described then I would agree with the conclusion your point for musing leads to. I find, rather, that those who are rejected are the very ones who choose to oppress and limit their fellowman—among which people you will find many of almost any belief structure.
Yes, Auldsoul, you are probably correct if we were to look at each individual reference to love, in the NT. I guess my statement was aimed more at the depth of divine love expressed within the pages of the Bible. Is God's love as expressed in the Bible. so real and pure as to effect even me who believe in no deities?
Respectfully, to you as well, friend.

God will continue to love you regardless of what you think of Him.
So, is what you are saying, Kate, is that the whole fruit of divine love is mine, even though I am not a Christian, and do not even acknowledge any reality or existence to the deities presented by the Bible? Are you saying the final outcome is to be no different for you and I then?

Lets look at that place where the rubber hits the road; what does the Bible express towards those who do not accept, worship or give credence to any of its deities?
It is in no way special to "love" those who admire and honor us, it is quite another thing to love those who give us no attention at all. How then, will your deities love be shown towards me, who give him/them nothing? Honestly, in regards the Bible, what is to happen to the likes of me?

"love" was found 328 times in 263 verses in the New Testament."Love" which promises to punish and destroy those who do not bow to it, is not love, but rather cruel and immoral manipulation. Ponder this. j
shining one just did a thread on an article that supposedly shows the bible was not fabricated.
i didn't want to hijack his thread, so i started this one.. .
i'm getting old, i guess, and maybe alzheimer's is starting in, but i have lost my vision, my understanding, my assurity if you will.
Gods, are creations and fallacies of the mind which we have come to strongly identify with.
To worship them is to support our make-believe self; and to deny them is to die.
Or so we think.

this is the audio interview that has been making waves in the past week.
charlie sheen: 'challenge me on the facts'
charlie sheen speaks on the record for the first time since monday's interview in which he expressed his serious doubts about the official 9/11 story, comments which caused a firestorm of controversy and interest amongst the mainstream media.
There are many strange things surrounding 9/11 that point to something my mind does not readily want to believe.

there have been a couple of threads started lately (and i'm sure many in the past as well) of dubs ask us apostates what they have since leaving the borg.
most people have responded that they enjoy their freedom, the ability to think independently.
but freedom and independent thinking are shunned by the dubs.. so i ask the question, .
It seems that the mind weaves an identity out of beliefs; the foundational beliefs often being religious.
What would I be without my Jah, or my Jesus, or my Allah, or whatever. We fear that we would be no body. It would be like death. So lots of denial and self-survival mechanisms kick into high gear that we may sustain our make-believe self.
Here is a great article on this, which has been posted here many times before, and which helps to understand this phenomina.

Though, admittedly, Gumby's eloquent post gets to the spiritual turnip of thing; I'm thinkin that the question is exactly like: why do people rob banks? Because that's were the money is. That's why animals eat blood with the meat, because that's where the blood is; unless of course you want to go all deep into it, all rocket sciency and mystic on us like Gumby the show-off.
