Same thing happening here. The only way I could get to a newer page was to change where it says "default" in the URL address, to the next higher page number and push "go". I have to do this for a couple days, and then all of a sudden it works on it's own until the new page is filled and then it sits on the same page again for a couple days and I have to add the numbers up top again and it's just kinda crazy you know. Virgin Birth Claim Disproves Biblical Inspiration
by AlanF inmany bible believers claim that the old testament contains over 300 so-called messianic prophecies.
however, a careful look at such claims shows that at least 80% of these have absolutely no connection with jesus, or with events beyond what the ancient writer was concerned with.. take, for example, the famous example of the supposed virgin birth of jesus.
this is based on the text of matthew 1:18-23 (nasb):18 now the birth of jesus christ was as follows: when his mother mary had been betrothed to joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the holy spirit.

"I have heard and read the claim that virgin birth myths existed long before Jesus day in other cultures/religions. I have not seen any proof of this claim though. Does anyone here know what evidence exists to support this?"
Buddha was born of the virgin Maya after the Holy Ghost descended upon her. The Egyptian God Horus shares the following in common with Jesus: Horus was born of the virgin Isis-Meri on December 25 th in a cave/manger with his birth being announced by a star in the East and attended by three wise men.
His earthly father was named "Seb" ("Joseph").
He was of royal descent.
At age 12, he was a child teacher in the Temple, and at 30, he was baptized, having disappeared for 18 years.
Horus was baptized in the river Eridanus or Iarutana (Jordan) by "Anup the Baptizer" ("John the Baptist"), who was decapitated.
He had 12 disciples, two of whom were his "witnesses" and were named "Anup" and "Aan" (the two "Johns").
In Phrygia, Attis was born of the virgin Nama. A Roman savior Quirrnus was born of a virgin. In Tibet, Indra was born of a virgin. He ascended into heaven after death. The Greek deity Adonis was born of the virgin Myrrha, many centuries before the birth of Jesus. He was born "at Bethlehem, in the same sacred cave that Christians later claimed as the birthplace of Jesus." In Persia, the god Mithra was born of a virgin on DEC-25. An alternate myth is that he emerged from a rock. Also in Persia, Zoroaster was also born of a virgin. In India, the god Krishna was born of the virgin Devaki. Virgin births were claimed for many Egyptian pharaohs, Greek emperors and for Alexander the Great of Greece. There were many mythological figures: Hercules, Osiris, Bacchus, Mithra, Hermes, Prometheus, Perseus and Horus who share a number of factors. All were believed to have:He performed miracles, exorcised demons and raised El-Azarus ("El-Osiris"), from the dead. Horus walked on water. His personal epithet was "Iusa," the "ever-becoming son" of "Ptah," the "Father." He was thus called "Holy Child." He delivered a "Sermon on the Mount" and his followers recounted the "Sayings of Iusa." Horus was transfigured on the Mount. He was crucified between two thieves, buried for three days in a tomb, and resurrected. He was also the "Way, the Truth, the Light," "Messiah," "God’s Anointed Son," the "Son of Man," the "Good Shepherd," the "Lamb of God," the "Word made flesh," the "Word of Truth," etc. He was "the Fisher" and was associated with the Fish ("Ichthys"), Lamb and Lion. He came to fulfill the Law. Horus was called "the KRST," or "Anointed One." Like Jesus, "Horus was supposed to reign one thousand years
Almost all were believed to have:been male. lived in pre-Christian times. had a god for a father. human virgin for a mother. had their birth announced by a heavenly display. had their birth announced by celestial music. been born about DEC-25. had an attempt on their life by a tyrant while they were still an infant met with a violent death. rose again from the dead.
I have no "proof" of any of this. JamesTbeen visited by "wise men" during infancy. fasted for 40 days as an adult. -

"For as OFTEN as you eat it...."
by AGuest inmay you all have peace!.
i posted the following to a request on another forum regarding where to partake of the "memorial.
" although that is not quite what *we* call it, i wanted to share with you my response, for those who are wondering.

The thread "died" (at this point) because SJ and I came as close to an understanding as it seems we are going to. Especially considering that I am not a Christian (I have no religion) and we have a very different way of expressing ourselves. Also the subject of our discussion reached a very personal level. To go on would be like two people arguing over the taste sensations of the same type of fruit. Both experience it in their own way, as more sour or more sweet; either way there is no convincing that either persons taste experience is more or less correct than the other, nor is there a need to. I have a great deal of respect for someone who is as open and willing to spend as much time and effort on answering questions as SJ has. JamesT

The life they stole from me
by sipho ini have just come across this website and was amazed to read to many similar experiences to what i went through with the 'loving' congregations of jehovah's witnesses.
i have now been gone 4 years but after reading some experiences i realise that the pain they caused still remains.
i am now quite angry at the way they control your life and brainwash you - i am so glad i finally saw what was happening and got out.

I have appreciated your time and openness. Perhaps as mentioned before, are differences are mainly semantic. As you say "For we are much more than that: all we need do is realize THAT "truth"... transcend our flesh... and through Christ... "enter". My words may be "abstract", for what I attempt to express in words can not be; for it is a very intimate sense of Being, the "much more". It is not separate from what I am, yet endless. Peace to you as well SJ. JamesT

Model Car Fun: Christine II
by Bendrr inanother of my little projects presented for your viewing pleasure.. remember the steven king book and movie christine?
'58 plymouth fury.
actually the movie used quite a few '58 plymouths and not all of them fury's.

Bendrr, Fine workmanship there. Who ever would have thought of morphing together a Viper and a 58? (well....you did, of course) I'm not into models myself, but can appreciate what your doing. I get the feeling your a perfectionist and spend a great deal of time on the finest of detail. Do you build them one at a time? or have several going? How many do you have in your present collection? A WHO'S WHO list of Atheists
by JT inhttp://www.celebatheists.com/
it has often been noted that many who leave wt often move from believers in a god to agnostic or atheist.. while the reasons often vary, they do share a common path- after leaving wt they kept on asking more questions - smile.
now i see why my grandma used to say: "baby, don't question the "lard"
-
JamesThomas
I can understand JT why that happens; as I'm sure you can. Many folks with the sense and intelligence to leave the Witnesses may come to view the antiquated, tribal, anthropomorphized deity, as childish and sickening; becoming atheists thinking there is no where to go from there. Personally I don't believe anymore in a god, that is an object, or thing, or person. So I would be considered an atheist under the traditional definition. Yet, I do have a deeper sense of ..... can't say. I know there are others here that....well, can't say either. Or, perhaps they can. JamesT of the confusing class

Stockholm Syndrome
by Phil inare there any readers that have studied or are aware of the term "stockholm syndrome" and its application to cults?
i have heard of this as it applies to people who are brainwashed in countries where torture is used to alter the thinking of people away from their past habits.
i have never heard it applied to the jw organization and its practices.

Very good RunningMan,
I don't mean to pop your bubble, or place a bee in your bonnet, or bunch up your panties(sorry, I didn't mean to expose that). But it seems that religious people do live longer:
(I cant seem to get a link, so click here: http://my.webmd.com/content/article/27/1728_60239
I doubt that it is do to prayer or good sex.
