I have been to quite a few live bands. There is NOTHING like dancing to a live band. Squirrel Nut Zippers are great but they do more charleston than anything else. For some "unknown" band you want to look up (kazza is great for this) Bill Elliot Swing Orchestra, Blues Jumper, Lee Press on and the Nails, Lavay Smith and her red hot skillet lickers (saw them live, AWESOME), an oldie but a goodie is Louis Prima. As for some of the newer stuff, I LOVE Brian Setzer, especialy Americano.
COMF - A link you might find interesting is http://www.dsds.org/index_main.shtml. That is the Dallas Swing Dance Society home page, they will always have people there for you to dance with. If not we have a live band here in wichita I believe on the 19th. You are welcome to make the drive.
Ven - *singing* It don't mean a thing all you gotta do is sing, doo wah doo wah doo wah doo wah doo waaaah. It makes no differance if its sweet or hot, just sing that thing give it everything you got.. OHHHHHH. By far one of my favorites, a song you may really like is Bei Mir Bis Du Schoen. Killer song, it starts off with a great beat and slows down right in the middle. As you are dancing to it and slowly swaying to the music the beat begins to pick up slowly... that song has more energy than any other that I know. Its on the Swing Kids soundtrack.
Estee - We must dance someday, I warn you though... I like to do the flips and aerials n such.

"Alone I break" if how I feel inside

several days went by, i had my judicial hearing (i think that was sunday), they told me that i was going to be disfellowshipped.
i accepted that i deserved that.

I personaly have not prayed in over a year now. I will do so tonight for you. You are not alone. Many people here have suffered great loss due to not only the witnesses but also everyday life. Take comfort in the fact that although you may feel as if you are alone in this world... you are not. You have hundereds of friends on this board that truly do care about you and will not abandon you simply because of the decisions you have made in your past. In the little time I have known you I have come to appreciate the wonderful person that you are. I am so sorry that you are going through all this.
In my past when I was alone I had 1 friend that I always turned to. Someone who truly cared about me as a person and wanted what was best for me. He is like a brother to me now, more than ever, because he stuck by me when I needed it the most. Find that one person that you can confide in and you will have your anchor.

what if?
by heathen inwhat if you were an alien and came to planet earth on a scientific mission to explore other planets .you have come a long way, as we know the closest star to earth is aproximately 1 light year away.
your planet has known nothing but peace and science has been the main form of religion .what would you think when you arrived here and how would you deal with the discovery of the life forms on this planet?
would you abandon all hope of establishing some sort of long term freindship with the so called intelligent life forms that exist here or would you try to communicate some sort of message you think might help the situation here?

by nelly1 inone of the witness sisters who sometimes comes to see me came today.
i remeber telling u all a while ago that abt a month ago an elder and an ms came to my house to do the where are you visit.. well i of course told them i didnt want to discuss it and said a prompt goodbye... well isnt it interesting that it doesnt take long for the so called discreet confidentiality to be broken huh?.
i hear today that a sister told this other sister that an elder came to see me and i told him to get lost..... seems they gossip more than i thought now i was majorly pisssssssssssed off about that.. they r such freakin hypocrites!!!!

It definately happens. Although it never happened to me personaly, my family was close friends with the P.O. of our congregation. We ALWAYS knew why people got DF'd or reproved, even if it was a private reproof. Funny though that my mom was once privately reprooved for gossip. Ohhh well. Thats our Borg!

At an assembly in Puerto Rico, the speaker was talking about experiances that he had as a missionary. He kept reffering to the natives of Japan as Gooks and went on to talk about how they would always try to "jew" him down on prices as the shop he had.
He also gave the final talk of the assembly later that day. He went the whole way through without saying anything to shock us until he started talking about what Angels look like. He said that they dont look like little green martians with antennas, as he says this he puts his fingers above his head imitating antennas. That was the best assembly I have ever been to.

Nothing big, just local ones. Won a few CD's for best dancers and best dressed (I own 3 zoot suits, 1 fedora, and 2 other hats which are MUCH larger) a few times. Nothing grand. Check out this link. http://www.wichitasds.org/
