Alan,
That was really good.
That's what I needed.
I read the threads and it was tremendously deep.
I think of all the issues, this is one of the most important.
thanks
Gene
hey guys,.
i'm doing research on 607 and i understand how historical chronology differs and how the wt really missed it by 20 years.. but it seems the anchor year has something to do with 537 and 70 years of desolation.
counting back, 70 years would be 607.. so i've been told that that is how the "bible's chronology" verifies 607.. does anyone explain what this is all about?.

just out of curiosity, now that it's been 6 weeks since we had our visit from the elders..... how many of us have been called on by the elders??
what have been the results of the visit?.
love, scully
I came into the truth fromt he world and pioneered for 9 years. I NEVER had a shepharding call. NEVER.
I don't count those, bs out in field service, "so how are you doing?" calls as shepharding. I NEVER had them come to my house.
Then I got into trouble. The first time I received an official visit was when they came to form a judicial committee.
Then I got depressed and was on the verge of suicide. My wife PLEADED with the CO to visit me on several occasions during his visit.
At the time I had a private reproof.
He NEVER came or even called.
I contacted my physical doctor. The guy called me back and treated me at no cost and gave me approximately 300 dollars worth of free medicine (Paxil).
This is how my phyisical doctor treated me. So nice.
My spiritual doctor? Deserted me.

I read some articles based upon "Gentile Times Reconsidered" by that Sweedish brother, but I tell you it is very confusing.
Thanks
i am sooooooo not the person i was when i was in the borg.
that person was young, naive, and had no more backbone than a jellyfish.
she believed what she was told, because why would someone lie to her?
Just think what it was if you were a brother.
No backbone? One of the things I regret is never standing up to things that I new were not right. Looking back, I did this more out of the fear that if I didn't agree with the PO's personal views, that somehow I wouldn't progress with privileges and such.
ok guys, .
i know you know what i'm talking about.. what was the funniest comment you heard from the audience during a study where the brother or sister used their comment as as platform to counsel the elders..

its got to be rage against the machine, "killing in the name of" .
just had the bassline to this song rumbling through my head, havent heard it for ages though .
you need to know the chorus.
Poison - Something to Believe In.
And the mirror mirror on the wall, See's my smile and it fades again.
GIVE ME SOMETHING TO BELIEVE IN

my friend was counseled for having a bad attitude because he wore white socks w/ his suit.
That's right.
Nothing was good enough.
After finally going on anti-depressants (Paxil), I started to take things easy.
I had a phone conversation with an elder and I told him that I've come to the conclusion that "I'm DOING MY BEST."
For the longest time, I struggled with feelings of inadequacy even though I pioneered for 9 years. Finally, broke donw and on anti-depressants I just decided to do what I could do.
Well, I told the brother I was feeling good, making the meetings when I could and I got one hour in service last month.
Of course you know the classic line - "Is that REALLY the best you could do?"
And I said YES.
My current state is I'm not DF or DA, but just not going to the meetings, but I am reading the BIBLE a TON.
my friend was counseled for having a bad attitude because he wore white socks w/ his suit.
I had my share of hair too long, then hair too short councels.
But here's another one that ranks just below the "stamp issue." The stamp one is a classic.
I was the accountant servant and I got conselled for being too neat. In other words, my numbers were too neat.
Seriously.
I think that the brother felt that if the numbers were too neat that it would look like I was making up the numbers. That if it was sloppier, it would look "more authentic."
I tell you what, I got picked on for everything, and I think I bitter about it because every time I complained it was just showing that I had a "bad attitude."
my friend was counseled for having a bad attitude because he wore white socks w/ his suit.
No, not kidding. Really.
I was using (I guess it was a 32 cent stamp at the time), and I got conseled that I shouldn't be using those stamps because it had a flag on them.
At first, I was cracking up, because I thought it was a joke.
So when I realized that it was not a joke, I said, "Do you also not use money because it also has an American Flag on it?"
But the comeback to that was, "Yeah, but with money we don't have a choice, but when it comes to stamps we do."
Swear.
my friend was counseled for having a bad attitude because he wore white socks w/ his suit.
For using a stamp that had an American Flag on it.
