I've heard that only some 7& of deaf people in the U.S. consider themselvces Christian. And according to some churches, JW's are taking their few deaf members away.

Video Welcomed by the Deaf, 2004 Yearbook pg.9--11.
by Blueblades inin 1915 in the united states,a pilgrim,or traveling elder, named john a. gillespie signed songs to the small deaf audience attending a convention of the international bible students,as jehovah's witnesses were then known.now there are over 1,200 congregations and groups of deaf publishers and interested ones around the world.how are these being spiritually fed?.
at present, bible study aids are available in 18 sign languages, and the number continues to grow.those who use american sign language ( asl ) received a special treat in september 2002.starting that month, watchtower study articles became available on video as a monthly edition.this provision is helping deaf people in ways that others might easily take for granted.. consider:most witnesses who are not deaf can quote a variety of scriptures from memory.this because they hear or read exactly the same words each time.deaf publishers, though,do not always enjoy such consistent renderings.why not?because the bible is not available in asl,and those handling parts at congregation meetings do not always sign scripture text in precisely the same way.but this began to change with the introduction of asl video publications.and now ,with watchtower articles also available on video, deaf audiences can enjoy a consistent rendering of bible passages.. additionally, asl congregations and groups no longer have to assign interpreters as readers for the watchtower study.in hearing congregations,an assigned reader might spend an extra hour or so preparing his watchtower so that he can read well.but in a congregation of deaf publishers, those scheduled to sign an article would often spend many hours in preparation.now, that valuable time can be used in other spiritual activities.how do the brothers and sisters feel about this new provision?.
a group of deaf publishers in the state of rhode island,u.s.a.,wrote:"we were overcome with joy when it was announced that we would have the watchtower on video.in fact, some of our publishers were moved to tears.

by Rosco ini watched the first 10 minutes of a television show here in the usa called the guardian a couple nights ago.
the show started with a scene of a girl in the hospital.
a man enters her room and it seems to be a friendly encounter between the two, he hands her a magazine.

This was Part One:
As part of the story, this lawyer (the main character) knocks on the door of a family's house & is greeted by a 16 yr. old girl. Before he could even introduce himself, SHE asked him if he had a copy of the "Watchtower" for her (thinking that was his reason for being at her doorstep).
Upon his confusion, she asked him if he was one of "Jehovah's Witnesses" [which of course, he explained he was not]. So, the girl goes on to mention that she thought he was a Jehovah's Witnesses since the "only nicely dressed individuals who knock at their doors are Jehovah's Witnesses" [making reference to his being nicely dressed, in a suit].
Afterward, this lawyer visits the same girl in the hospital & surprises her with a rolled up magazine--none other than a Watchtower--and the girl expresses her joy about receiving a "Watchtower"...
You might had been watching Part Two.

What is Christmas to an Ex-JW?
by Amazing inwhat is christmas to you?
if you were raised a jw, as my children were, getting used to christmas takes time, and does not carry with it any memories.
for others who became jws later in life, it took time to get over christmas and learn to discredit the custom and lose feelings for it, and in some cases even learn to hate christmas as an evil pagan evoluton of apostate christianity.. .

You got to admit that some of those satanic Christmas carols are pathetic and even scary.

MEETING ATTENDANCE SOARS and HALLS ARE FILLED TO CAPACITY! 2004 YB.
by Blueblades in.
2004 yb.page 23.. during the 2003 service year,2,340 kingdom halls were completed around the world.this represents an average of 195 halls per month,or just over 6 per day!since november 1999 when the construction program in lands with limited resources began,7,730 kingdom halls have been built.in many areas, once a hall is finished, meeting attendance soars and halls are soon filled to capacity.. my comment:this is nothing new.from the time of the dedication till the newness wears off this is usually the trend.halls filled to capacity does not indicate new converts.proof of this is when the memorial season comes around the halls usually are filled and then the very next meeting they are not filled to capacity.so,for one night meeting attendance soars then declines just as swiftly the next.. i am told that my hall which usually had a least 100 in attendance now has about 35 on school nights and 60 on sunday.what about your hall does it soar and is it filled to capacity?.

With about 100 publishers, the congregation I use to attend to, there was about 130-140 on Wdnesday and 150-175 on Sunday mornings. And 225 when the CO visits.

"the U.N." - it's effects on the witnesses
by gumby inin short......i am surprised of the organisations involvement with the u.n......had the damaging effect to the degree that it did......upon those who learned of it.. when the 'generation change' occured in 94', i thought there would be a bigger fallout.
when the voting issue happened, i thought it would cause quite a stir.
with "dateline" and "fifth estate" uncovering child molestation issue among jehovah's witnesses....i thought many would fall out.. what gets me is the amount , that were effected by the u.n. scandle.

I don't think it has affected the Witnesses at all. Witnesses don't know about it. How the heck would a JW know? And even if they know, no biggy.
