  GERMAN JWS DURING WWII

  i saw the documentary secret lives: hidden children and their rescuers during wwii.

  i was really touched by the stories of survival and the courage shown by lot of german families, as well as polish, french, etc, who hid jewish children during the war, even when they knew they could suffer the same fate as the jews if caught.

  many times in the watchtower we read stories of german jws who were sent to concentration camps.....but they only went because they were jws, not because they risked their lives in order to save jews.

  I don't remember of any German W's hiding any Jews. But they have helped people escape death. Examples: the Rwanda massacre and also in Israel.

  Dad said JW's number 6.5 million and are growing -- can anyone verify this?

  i had one of my infrequent phone conversations with my jw-elder-father yesterday.

  he's been "in da troof" all his adult life, over 5 decades now.

  it's all he knows.. so naturally, on those rare occasions when we talk, he launches into a "come back into the truth" soliloquy.

  is almost always the same or less than the average population growth on the planet, which means they are NOT gaining on the rest of the world.

  They ARE gaining. The world population growth rate is of 1.14%.

  If they were growing at the rate of the Mormon church (as was mentioned on another thread), and were organized to flex their political muscles, that would be a concern.

  LDS church growth last year was 2.25% There are much more Witnesses than active Mormons.

  Most of the growth is from children of JWs, baptized in their early teens (or before),

  Mostly 15 and up.

  some time ago i asked how many of you have divorced to get the idea if x-jws posters have a higher or a lower divorce rate than the general population.

  of those who responded 86% have been divorced.

  studies show inactive and x- witnesses, not only have a considerable higher rate of divorce than current members, but even higher than of the general population.

  According to the statistics above, marriages between young people in their twenties carry the highest risk of divorce in the first five years. If anecdotal evidence proves true, and many JW marriages are between young people in their twenties, then I suspect their divorce rate is as high as the general population.

  Virgins have some 70 percent lower divorce rate than those who are not virgins

  Some time ago i asked how many of you have divorced to get the idea if X-JWs posters have a higher or a lower divorce rate than the general population. Of those who responded 86% have been divorced. (6 out of 7)

  Studies show inactive and X- Witnesses, not only have a considerable higher rate of divorce than current members, but even higher than of the general population. Jehovah's Witnesses have a divorce rate of 5%. 25% of the general population have had at least one divorce during their lifetime.

  Why do you think so many end up in divorce? Do you think that after leaving 'God's organization' things have turned up better for them by divorcing?
