How many efforts to sway JWs have actually worked?

i keep reading these threads about exposing the wts and sending letters to individual jws.

how many of these efforts have actually worked?

i've read books written by xjws and watched videos produced by them, but only after becoming one.

I know the efforts put into Dateline (USA) and Fifth Estate (Canada) exposing the WTBS pedophile scandal caused many to stop and think. Some eventually even left.

I have heard with personalized letters of people when leaving sent to very close friends and family have had an impact. I haven't heard of any mass impersonalized mailing having success. It doesn't mean it can't or hasn't happened, just simply i haven't heard of it. fjtoth tried it when he left Bethel. He put a note under every single door of the Bethel residence. Between thsoe collected and destroyed and those simply thrown out, it didn't change anyone.

I was already doubting at the time and I didn't read past the first paragraph.

People should do what they feel they should do but don't browbeat others if they don't buy into personal campaigns.

To those who don't know fjtoth well, he is a very well-read and insightful individual. Definitely worthy of consideration of his comments and observations. I deeply respected him while we served at Bethel together and that respect stands now that we are both free.

Does anyone have any pictures?

i've been searching all over for pictures of governing body members engaged in "unscriptural conduct" and i still haven't found any.

i thought that in this day and age with cell phone cameras and spy equipment, at least one person would have something grimey.

i want to see what really goes on after hours in the borg.

so just to satisfy my curiosity it would be great to see some of your photos, of you, your family even your pets (they're family too!

) then i'll know if any of you do look like your avatars cos that's what i'm always wondering!

Confession:

It all depends on the nature of the websites.

The first two are great for consultancy advertizing. Thefirst for serious , get down to business type ads. The second if you are more into HR and personal improvement type consulting.

#3 and 4 I would leave off completely. 3 has some possibilities if advertizing computer related skills but people looking for computer skills would not be impressed byu the smiling faces in these pics

For pics 5 & 6. If you are a guru of some kind these could be useful. Too casual for business and too 'out there' for anything other than well.. something out there.

So the pics may be great depending on what image you may want to project.

My opinion and two cents... and Hey, 2 cents Canadian is worth far more than it was 6 months ago!

old son who hasn't been among the borg since ca.

2002, and asked him why he hates religions.

Just to clarify, most investors in funds do not analyze all the holdings.

The Rand thing has been overdone to death is a non-issue to me.

There is enough hypocrisy within the Borg without stretching it to include these items. Please don't make me dig up all the old threads from 5 years ago on this topic

Does a person's true personality come out when they're drunk?

i've heard this been said before that when you have had loads to drink and when your inhibitions are temporarily removed then the real you is exposed.

i.e:.

some people when they've got a skinfull they might start talking about money & bragg about personal financial achievements and how much more money they're going to earn.. some people after a few beers suddenly think they're rocky balboa and think they can take the world on.. others after sinking some g & t's might turn into a crazed sexual tyrannosaurus!!.

Questions For Those That Entered the Armed Forces After Practicing JWism

with having so many close to me serve in the armed forces, it only helps me appreciate even more those that serve in them.

i've had 7 uncles and a grandfather serve in the u.s. army, another grandfather in the u.s. navy, my late brother-in-law served for 6 years in the air force right on up to his death earlier this year, and my father also served in the air force in his pre-jw days.. even while being a very devout jw, i still had the utmost respect and appreciation for those serving.

from what i understand after chatting with many of you is that some among us on jwd have entered the military after leaving the religion.

As a result of my work, I am engaged in many ways with the military. In fact next Wednesday I have a meeting with the top Land Forces Commander for the Province to discuss many of the partnerships we have.

Working at the military base in Kingston Ontario especially has been enlightening and rewarding. I have walked away with so much respect for the men and women who serve. Of the dozens killed so far in Afghanistan I have known and worked with 6 of them and felt the loss when visiting their families afterwards. Kingston also runs training for the Blue helmets (UN) primarily for those going into UN Policing Campaigns. I've ended up meeting military personnel from dozens of countries who were attending this training.

I was honoured to have been 'coined' by one regiment. They presented me with the Regimental Coin, traditionally given only to those in the ranks of that unit.

I am now too old to seriously consider this as an option but with the amazing humanitarian work being done by the Canadian Armed Forces it would have been something I would have considered if I were still in my 20's. I gave those years being a soldier of the Borg <sigh>.
