A phone call to one of the Plaintiff's attorneys would settle this quickly if it has anything to do with the JW's. I'm thinking not but could be wrong.

This is all too surreal. What are you doing?..Where are you at..RIGHT NOW?
by BONEZZ inever have one of those really weird moments?
part melancholy...fleeting and just weird.
it's like certain uncontrollable elements come together to create an overwhelming sadness...or maybe it's just the caffeine.. so here i am sitting in a starbucks, in one of the comfy seats...been here since opening at 6am...when all of sudden i'm reading the post by uzzah, listening to the starbucks channel play georgia on my mind by ray charles...followed by i left my heart in san francisco...fighting back tears to no avail....and everything around me is hazy.

BONEZZ:
Sorry man if my post triggered that reaction. Sometimes life can have those 'tsunami-moments' I've been lucky enough to be just as overwhelmed by the positives of this life too.
Both experiences however can be unsettling. Sounds like you are managing it.
Keep up keeping up!

Why don't I see any pastors or clergy on this forum?
by moshe init just occurred to me that i have never seen a member on jwd who was a minister/priest/rabbi/monk,friar,shamman, etc.
maybe i have just missed their posts and then again, maybe they don't come here for some reason.
i know they must come in contact with jw's and ex-jw's all the time.

We should develop a few recipes for different kind of Pastor (pasta) sauces...
a garlic sauce for the vampire Pastors
The self righteous Catholic Priest angel hair pasta sauce made with Altar Boy Sausage (okay that was low even for me)
Born Again Pasta Sauce (leftovers from the night before) and re-baked

Donchya know us apostates eat pastors for breakfast. Ministers are a mid day snack. JW Elders are consumed like a handful of M&M's.
Not to mention the fact that agnostics and atheists out number the 'god-fearing' here. There are easier pastures me thinks.

I am embarassed to say I did that as a little kid. I think it was Grade 2 or 3 and some kids were picking on my brother and I for being witnesses. As we were so bravely running away (per my mother's strict orders "If you fight Jehovah will be angry and you won't be in paradise") I apparently turned around and hollered that God is going to kill them all for persecuting us.
We went home and really thought nothing of it until the phone started rining from parents very pissed that I had cursed them to damnation. A few of the kids were a little shaken. I was told that while I was right, it just isn't a good thing to tell them in that way. Yeah my parents (mother mostly) were JW kooks.
<hanging head in shame>

Welcome from a neighbour to the south (Toronto).
If nothing else this board is great for posting your thoughts where you know others who have gone through the same things will read. Some even comment! LOL
A kindred spirit will be found here. Share what you feel is comfortable for you recognizing this is the Internet and can be read by anyone.
Many of us in the Greater toronto Area try to get together for dinner/drinks fairly often. Keep an eye open for threads about our next event. No preaching is allowed, just good conversation, sharing of stories and normal people stuff! Oops actually Grace is allowed to preach a little, only cuz we love her so much!

There could be some good laughs from one of the boys being disfellowshipped 'as the last act of love"
Sorry we can't talk to you Kyle.
Why what did I do?
We don't know but the elders said if we love you we won't have anything to do with you.
What the &*^@#%?!?!?!
If we don't talk to you, you will know we love you and you will come back.
Uhhh no Cartman. You don't talk to me, I'll just get new friends.
You can't do that Kyle. Who do you know? All your friends and family are with us now. We all love you and will have nothing to do with you. Can't you feel the love?
You bastards

Your epitaph...what would you like it to be?

Trash THIS!
by Farkel inhere is an interesting challenge for the folks.
this thread revolves around one subject, and that is thomas paine's brilliant critique of the bible written in about 1795. he did most of this from memory, while in prison in france.. http://www.infidels.org/library/historical/thomas_paine/age_of_reason/.
the challenge is this: critique his essays.

I have had the unique "privilege" of trying to moderate a board during Farkel's hey-days! He has always been quick with a barb or to verbally rip into someone who posts nonsense or statements full of logical fallacies.
I've deleted a fair number of his posts over the years and got ripped a new one by Fark and others on a regular basis. But Farkel had a pretty keen sense as to when to use honey and when to use vinegar. Honey doesn't always work. Some people can be led to an understanding, others can be obstinate and needs a 2x4 to jog their thinking ability. Sometimes he got it wrong but more often he chose the appropriate tactic for the main person with whom he was communicating.
It can be near painful to read and some of the name calling unnecessary but he has had significant success in getting people to seriously re-think positions and to question well-ingrained circular reasoning.
Do I agree with his tactics? Not always. I've called him to task as a mod and privately as a colleague. Is he worthy of the villification being demonstrate on this thread? Not at all.
To echo HS' comment, you don't like his style, don't click on his threads. Pretty simple really.
Uzzah - To those interested ... keep reading his past threads and posts. He more than most has good reason to despise the WT and their flip-flop doctrines. Anyone here gone to jail or detention facilities for 'the truth' only to be told later it wasn't the society's fault that he followed 'his conscience" and thus shouldn't blame the Society?
